Origin selection discussion thread

QLD are just hypocrites.. I mean listen to that idiot Hunt on the Johns footy show saying he wont miss SOO.. yet this is a hack that didn't want to play for his country so he could play for QLD

QLD passion? please what garbage their even trying to claim Teo as a QLDer now quite funny stuff

They should just make the rule where ever you are born. If you are born in NSW you should play for NSW. If you are born in NZ then the only country you can play for is NZ and you can't play Origin. It is the best way to do it.

My 8yr old boy agrees with you.

Being born in Queensland, he moved to Sydney last year with his mum and on signing up at his new school, he told the Administrator that he will have to return to Qld when he goes to High School. The Administrator asked him why, and he told them he must play his first game of Football in a Qld High School to be able to play for Queensland…

He thinks it is a stupid rule and he is only 8\. So go figure???!!!

why cant he just do what Inglis did and Falou? they didnt even have to live in QLD or play in QLD to play for them

I might add the great Queenslander Billy Moore to that list what a joke he was

Hahaha Billy Moore was twice as good as the clowns you blokes kept picking Golden

That's not really saying much unfortunately. Twice as good as rubbish is still rubbish.

 Problem is I dont think people are born in Queensland…

They migrate...Inglis, Izzi, Lortay, Carroll, Thorn, T'eo....the list goes on...

Lawrence is out of form and stuggling to hold down a FG spot….

Farah wont be picked...they will make changes to the second row and maybe bench...

Bird or Barrett to come in for Lyon or maybe even put Gidley there to get God back to fullback....

NSW Selectors are imbo's

Wholesale changes won't win game 2...

Agree with all points (except i dont think Lawrence is struggling to hold his FG spot)

You can add Gallen in for Watmough if he's injured.

What I would do, though, is bring in Snowden and Mannah at the expense of Perry and white.

Leave Gidley on the Bench (It really annoys me that the NSW side is stuffed around just because he has been named captain)

Of course Farah for Ennis.

Idris is another Ennis type myth . He decisions in defence are not up to scratch.

My Team would be (whilst trying to minimise changes):
Jarryd Hayne
M.jennings, Matt Cooper, Jamie Lyon, Brett Morris,
T.Barrett, Brett Kimmorley,
P.Gallen, Ben Creagh, Trent Waterhouse, Michael Weyman, R.Farah, Tim Mannah.

Interchange: Snowden, Tom Learoyd-Lahrs, Kurt Gidley ©, Luke Lewis

interesting to see what happens after both hayne and lewis have been charged both unless they fight and win will miss origin. so that pretty much rules out lyon, watmough, lewis, hayne who probably wont be considered cant see too many other changes now

Lyon was apparantly undergoing a test today to prove his fitness to Bellamy

I'll answer that one…

I played from the age of 7 till I was 24 wearing a Tiger Patch on my chest. The Club was Eastern Suburbs in Brisbane and they are the Tigers. As a result, I have been a Tiger Support in the Sister Competition of the NSWRL ever since. If you can keep it a secret, I even support the Tigers in the AFL, but please dont tell anyone... Over the years, my Professional Career has also seen me live in Sydney, and as a result I lived in Drummoyne and Leichhardt. During my time in Sydney, I travelled to every game at Leichhardt and was always a member of the Balmain Tigers. Now I have moved back to 'Gods Country', I live on the Sunshine Coast and I am still an avid Wests Tigers Supporter.

In a few weeks time, the Wests Tigers will travel to Brisbane to play the Broncos. If you get the chance to watch the game, you will see many many Wests Tigers Supporters. Not many have lived in Balmain, but I'm sure a few have played the game of Rugby League with a Tiger Patch on thier chest.

When the Tigers realise they wont be able to survive in Sydney, and choose to re-locate to a new city, they will still be linked to the Proud Tigers emblem and I Hope you will continue to support them while they are elsewhere, just like many other supporters will.

lol... what a story...

I've been a Balmain supporter since I can remember. It was because they lost in 1989 and I felt sorry for them.

That was just a gee up, to see if some Sydney folk would support the Tigers if they where located elsewhere, simply like myself and many others.

Personally, I dont think the current structure of the National Rugby League can justify having so many teams in Sydney, as I believe there simply isnt enough revenue within the Sydney cluster. In saying that, and considering we did merge the 2 clubs in 2000 to ensure we stayed in the NRL, The Wests Tigers and the St George Illawarra Franchises should never be forced out, unless the 'Club' or its 'Shareholders' decides they can earn more revenue by relocating?

Football Clubs are finished, and the future of the NRL is with Franchises. Club passion can continue in the NSWRL, but the NRL is about business. I own businesses and one thing is for certain, if your business is strugling for revenue, you need to review your product or look at new Traffic Generators…

You had me gee'd up Watto.
Any way back to Origin, Why does Mannah get a mention before Heighno and Payten etc for Origin?

Alright Golden, I was an avid follower of the Winfield cup as a young bloke. Me and my mates all picked sides to follow when we were around 5 or 6 - just starting footy. I picked Balmain…simple as that. My uncle moved to Sydney and on the odd occasion when we visited him he would take us to the football - he was a huge Tigers fan. He got me tickets to the 88 final when the dogs got us and I also went to the 89 semi final when we beat the bunnies for a gf birth.

When the Tigers lost in 89 I was devastated and felt so sorry for the players that I became a fan for life on the spot.

Pretty much been all down hill since ...up until 05 when I got to see the boys dust the dragons live in Sydney in the semi and then backed that up with watching us win the comp on my 30th birthday.

I think you'll find that there are more Wests Tigers supporters who do live outside of Sydney than don't mate.

I remember the game 2 years ago at Suncorp. Again it was on a Friday and I reckon 1/3rd of the crowd was Tiger Supporters!!!

Oh….look it's a Queenslander Love IN......

Where is that spew emoticon when you need it!!!!!!

Anyhow back on Origin...the imbo's that pose as the NSW selectors and Coach may get their hand forced with all the Origin incumbants either injured or facing the judiciary....

Bolter......Lawrence...
