Origin selection discussion thread

Good work chris

i agree with your post - selectors are in a panic

anyone who watche game 3 clearly saw that qld took their foot of the pedal as it was a dead rubber.

That win had nothing to do with the kimorley ennis combo.

Nsw is lacking a gun half at the mo and that will cost us imo.

Only robbie is remotley of soo standard at the mo. This will probably help us get the points agains newcastle (rnd 11) and the broncos (rnd 17)

IMO the Blues need a good old cleanout. Anyone who was in the team back in '06 and was still there last year needs to go because, clearly, they ain't getting the job done. All this talk about the team needing experience is garbage because experience hasn't helped during the last four years.

I'll be gobsmacked if they pick Robbie considering the man-love there is for the Grub so it's not even worth saying that Robbie should be there.

Plus if you watch game 3 Ennis only played 20 minutes in each half and most tries were scored when he was off the pitch. Regardless Ennis will be picked and as i've said before I will be very sorry for Robbie as i know how much he wants it but personally I'd rather he was available for the Tigers.

I was just going through Dean Ritchie's blog about the origin side and here are some of classic comments he made regarding Farah/Ennis

On why he picked Ennis for his team

He is tough, can kick, works well with Kimmorley and is a winner, All ingredients for Origin footy.

Apart from providing a solid answer he's saying Robbie is a wimp, can't kick and is a loser.

Well I can’t work out why so many people are against Ennis!

Errrr look at the stats and you'll see!

Farah is a champion. Creative and brilliant. But Ennis took his place last year and hasn’t done anything wrong to lose it.

He hasn't done anything to keep it either!

He is fairdinkum kidding himself. I'm so filthy over all this Ennis crap, seriously.

I don't think the Telegraph likes Robbie that much….

I dont think Lozza has his phone number either....going by what he said on Foxsports in relation to Dean Young "Yeah I've got Dean's number....I've got a few players numbers and I'm happy to help them when I can"...Snozz....

Now one would think that's a conflict of interest....then I remember the NSW selectors is now and always has been a wankfest boys club....

Leave them with their agenda. I'd rather see Farah hoisting the 2010 premiership trophy in front of a gutted Michael Ennis than watch him play for the Blues.

Farah outplays that cheap shot merchant in every facet of the game. Robbie's too proud to silently take satisfaction in that tough. It would be a barrel of laughs if Ennis went down before game 1 and Farah led the Blues to win 3-blot though.

And as long as Sheens is Australian coach, Ennis will never get his hands on the coveted green & gold #9.

I have been thinking - and have decided that I will be pretty peeved if Idris is picked ahead of Lawrence. Don't get me wrong Idris is a good player, and dam hard to tackle - but I still think Lawrence is a class above.

The media picks these teams, that's the main problem.

Idris is a media magnet because he has dreadlocks, is huge and is black. Lawrence is a far better player than Idris in all areas of the game, but Lawrence is laid back, doesn't get as much media attention so he doesn't get the media plaudits that someone like Idris does, hence he won't be chosen for Origin.

The media love a gimmick. Just like Wolfman with his beard who Inglis OWNED last year..

That was downright embarrassing too. Williams was so far out of his depth if he had hit water he would have drowned.

Lawrence isn't even being talked about now for Origin so even if he runs in a hattrick on Sunday, I don't think we'll see him named for game 1\. Ennis hasn't done anything tonight against the Dragons either.

Joe E Johns has pushed Ennis' barrow all night through his commentary. Farah isn't dirty enough to get in front of Ennis for the Blues 9 jersey..

So…uh, how are NSW going to win if we bank on Ennis and Kimmorley? We gonna try and get QLD on the stilnox and red bull, again?

Seems to be your only hope….

Tonight just highlights how ordinary Kimmorley and Ennis are when behind a beaten forward pack. Ennis in particular went missing against the Dragons. Ennis ran for 6 metres and missed 6 tackles, if that's worthy of origin selection then give it to Qld now.

Watched most of tonights dogs vs dragons game and we may as well give QLD the series if they pick Kimmorley and Ennis!…both players we very ordinary...as a matter of fact Ennis has been talked up way over his actual play this year...it's just a shame the game against the Tigers was by far a standout for him...his only one!..Farah is streets ahead of Ennis but luck is against Farah...he has not been able to deliver the knockout blow to Ennis...time will tell all.

Like I've mentioned previously, Ennis disappears when his team is getting beaten.

Farah may overplay his hand at time, but I'll never knock him for it because he at least tries to create things. Ennis sits back and passes to his forwards who get smashed. He is the biggest myth in the NRL without doubt.

Ennis will be picked, don't know how but he will be. Every time I watch him play all I see is some one that goes to dummy half passes the ball and misses plenty of tackles. He adds virtually nothing to the team. He is however best mates with all the media guys.

Farah last year played in SOO 1 and 2 played with a dud halves combination and a poorly selected pack.

If both guys were on the open market every coach in the NRL bar Bellamy (he has Smith) would buy Farah over Ennis.

I actually think Bellamy wants Farah in the side but doesn't know how or wants to build the team around him.

Unfortunately, even after last nights game, they'll still pick Ennis…. I just hope the Blues won't be relying on him to pull a win out of the bag with a deft kick or run or pass if it's a close game, cause he offers nothing, he's not a game breaker.

Noddy was ok last night, but the selectors should be thinking of the future and should probably pick a much younger (than noddy) half.
