Origin selection discussion thread

That NSW side isn't even a good club side. Look at the 6,7,9 and 1 - it was Lyon, Kimmorley, Ennis and Gidley vs Lockyer, Thurston, Ballin and Slater. We can't win unless we pick a team that can rattle Qld with skill and flare. Move Hayne to fullback and hope he wakes up, Gidley to half back or nowhere, Jennings and Lawrence in the centres, Farah to hooker, Carney to five-eight, Morris's to the wings. Run them around a bit.

I found myself cheering for QLD for the first time in my life….reason: I can't stand Bellamy as a coach and Ennis is a grub!...I was glad QLD won, Bellamy is a loser of a coach, he picked players out of form and out of position!...his loss served him right!...A new coach will yield a new half/five eighth combination; a new hooker and for the life of me I can't understand how Gidley makes fullback ahead of Hayne?...I hope the blues get smacked in game 2 and the pretenders and that cheating coach get the boot!

Qld will win the series, they have composure, structure and a good kicking game which NSW simply do not have. Once again the Blues selectors got it wrong and have helped to create history as I can't see NSW getting up for game 2.

1 - Im Biased but Ennis offered no spark ion attack at all,
2 - Kimorley and Gidley played well (Game 2 - 7 and 6)
3 - Idris is a few seasons away, Lyon back to 3
4 - Feel sorry for hayne - How does one shut off the instinct if a full back for 1 game in terms of attackuing the ball defensivly
5 - Finally our forwards arent intimidating at all.

Most importantly - This is a hell of a QLD side.

A pack with no sting or intimidation, a 5/8 @ fullback, a centre @ 5/8, a centre on the bench who has only played a month or so of good footy, giving the likes of Timana Tahu & Trent Waterhouse a free origin pass. What'd they expect. Selectors have NFI.

At least now Ennis knows what its like to play behind a weak origin pack.

Game 2
1.Hayne
2.Morris
3.Tahu
4.Jennings A MUST!!
5.M Gordon? Who else? Has speed, Good D, can kick Goals.
6.Gidley } Moves to hooker when Carney comes on
7.Kimmorley } Exp and lack of other options for now
8.Weyman
9.Ennis? Farah not any better atm.
10.King
11.Watmough
12.Laffranchi
13.Lewis

14.Carney
15.Learoyd-lars
16.White } Thought he was poor but give another chance
17.Tolman Does it for the Storm, he'll handle himself well

1.> Dugan (Hayne)
2.> B Morris
3.> J Morris
4.> Jennings
5.> Tahu
6.> Carney
7.> Pearce
8.> Weyman
9.> Ennis
10.> White
11.> Hindmarsh
12.> Watmough
13.> Gallen

14.> Lewis
15.> Learoyd-Lahrs
16.> Waterhouse
17.> Tolman

Sack Gidley, Idris, Perry, Lyon, Kimmorley and Cooper. They were all useless last night and did SFA.

Give Lewis more minutes, he struggled last night because he wasn't on long enough to make an impact. Waterhouse to come off the bench. He's an absolute mental patient on the field when he's been out there too long and gives away stupid penalties or errors. Gallen must be there next game, hits the line hard and is great for second phase play.

Carney and Pearce are the form halves at the moment, and the Roosters combo would work a treat.

Dugan is a revelation at fullback, give the kid a run. If not put Hayne in there. Gidley is a waste of space there.

Jennings for #4 and Morris #3\. Play the Morris brothers together and let Tahu run rampant on the wing, he's big so I don't see him getting dragged over the sideline.

Tolman on the bench. Good player and runs hard, can bend the line.

Im so confused!! How is Ennis any good. I tried to start fresh with him and support him because he is representing my state but he just does nothing. Apparently one of NSW best. So frustrated.

No no no you have it all wrong. Ennis was great when he ran the ball twice in the first half, and once in the second, and the way he shoveled the ball to whoever was standing next to him was great. The best part was when he went the grapple once or twice and interfered with the man trying to play the ball and gave away a penalty - I mean, that is what you want out of your origin style players. Oh and that left boot out of dummy half that NSW so badly needed, which was used on zero occasions was terrific.

Fair dinkum, the way this guy is talked up, you would think his defence resembles Danny Buderus on steroids and angry pills. He is a competent defender at best, and in attack he offers nothing. Those saying he was decent last night are kidding. With absolutely nothing doing in the halves, NSW needed some quality runs out of dummy half and someone to take pressure off the 6 and 7\. Ennis went MIA.

Farah's poor form in 2 games this NRL season cost him (and probably to a large extent his shocker last year in game 2, and I can understand that to an extent), but Farah turning in an average performance would be better than what Ennis offers.

Don't care hwat anyone says Heighno is a built for Origin player but they keep picking players like Creagh and Waterhouse who, while excellent for their clubs, lack the intensity and motor for Origin football

Oh, that's what they must mean by 'made for Origin'. You need to be a dirty grub who gives away penalties.

Go QLD for 5-0.

After what Creagh did in Game III last year, he should be marked never to play Origin again.

NSW Selectors…... hahahahaha...... idiots

How do the NSW selectors, in particular L.Daley get away with it year after year without no accountability. They are a deadset joke!. Watch L.Daley talk it up over the next two week…he is a goose!

100% agreed Smeg!

11\. Watmough
12\. Gallen
13\. Heighington

For me that backrow screams intensity!

If it was me picking the side id go:

1\. Hayne
2\. Lawrence
3\. J Morris
4\. Lyon
5\. B Morris

6\. Carney
7\. Kimmorley/Pearce (Depending on form and fitness in the coming weeks)

8\. Weyman
9\. Ennis (Prefer Farah but his form isnt up to scratch, cant pick him on current form)
10\. Snowden
11\. Gallen
12\. Watmough
13\. Lewis

14\. Douglas
15\. Tolman
16\. Leahroyd-Lars
17\. Heighington (No other 2nd rower is really standing out at the moment imo)

No need for a utility on the bench, if an injury occurs Lewis can cover the position with one of the 2nd rowers coming off the bench. Sometimes I think the Blues selected a back on the bench because they feel they have to.

I'd go….

1\. J. Dugan
2\. B. Morris
3 B. Champion
4\. M. Jennings
5\. J. Morris
6\. T. Carney
7\. M. Pierce
8\. M. Weyman
9\. R. Farah
10\. A. Tolen
11 A. Watmough
12\. P. Gallon
13\. C. Heighington

14\. L. Lewis
15\. T. Leroyd- Larhs
16\. K. Snowden
17\. T. Waterhouse

Even if they lost I'd stick with them and let them gel.

Id normally agree with yas on Ennis because I hate the grub as well, but do you really think Farah deserves to be there on current form?
