Origin Selection, who has potential so far?

We are currently 6-weeks out from the first game of Origin in May and we seem to have some eligible players in form that may seem like dark-horses in the grand scheme of things given the lack of respect the Tigers usually get in representative selection.

Realistically, I could see AD potentially getting a call up given he trained with them last year, has been on form and could serve as a very useful 14. Depending on what type of team they want to field I cannot think of many better hookers so far this year than Api as well. Depending on how Luai bounces back from injury it would be silly to rule him out as a possibility.

It might be a bit of a stretch, but Terrell has been in reasonable form with exceptional fitness. I could probably make a case for Twal who has been having a great year so far with some great offload potential being a bench forward or reserve.

While players in other positions have been doing their job for us I can think of better players in position and cannot see room for anyone else, but would be curious to hear other's opinions.

There might be an argument for Doueihi on a 6 man bench but he would need to be over his groin issue for consideration and I'd still prefer others.
Brailey has been the best 9 the past 12 months and is playing better than Api.
May I don't think would be considered due to seemingly being on the outer. I wouldn't have him in contention anyway. Not far off but not real close either.
Twals form probably justifies consideration but he has Yeo and Murray ahead of him so no chance.
Luai always a possibility but will need to string some games together.

Looking at the upcoming draw, (broncs, raiders, sharks, storm, eagles) frankly I'd be happy if they leave us alone..
Same.

I really don't see anyone else but Terrell May getting the nod from the Tigers.
AD is a huge stretch, Api is far too old...

Makasini if he plays the daylights out of the next few games could get the nod. I mean Toia got the nod for QLD in his rookie season.

Ultimately happy if the selectors keep dreaming that the Roosters are the best NRL team and leave us alone.

Too many good incumbents ahead of most of our guys in each position unfortunately. I reckon Sam Fainu would be a shoe in though in another era that didn’t have back rowers like Young, Crichton, Preston, Martin, Olakauatu, Kolomatangi etc in it. Maybe Doueihi could get a run as a utility, but more likely he’d get 18th man if at all.

Luai on a six-man bench as halves cover. Doobie has bench flexibility across the whole backline.
Moses and Cleary seem to be settled.

Api is the best NSW hooker in the game. A chance.

May is not an SOO prop. Not enough agro and punch forward.

Twally theoretically fits the criteria with his offloads, metres gains, tackle efficiency, minutes and flexibility to play anywhere in the middle. That said, with the eligibility rule changes and general derision of Tigers players in the sky blue jersey, I would say none likely.

I think Twal is closer to getting selected then May. Can play 13 and prop and is arguably a stronger runner with ball work then May. But I also think they have a prejudice against May after last year and with AFB now playing he slides down the order quite a bit.

May too pedestrian for Origin, no impact or fire, solid, that’s all imo.

I think olakuatu has played 1 good game all year . Angus is off to rugby so he shouldn’t get it , and Martin is injured . Preston and young … and kolomantamgi is a middle these days. He really should be in the 22 man squad at least .

As someone said earlier, just leave us alone, we neither have nor want anyone for SOO.
Agree don't have anyone justifying origin selection. Disagree we don't want it. Continued winning combined with Origin representation is how we become an attractive club for potential recruits.
Additionally players (usually younger players) speak of what they've learnt in elite environments.

Agree with your rationale G but just want us to settle into a good routine without too many injuries, origins etc. weve been somewhat lucky re injuries so far !
Maybe next year would be better.

Api is an out and out origin player, just needs a coach who is smart enough to use his strengths at that level.
