I'd rather not look at our 1-5 if that's OK

If you put them up against every other club's 1-5 we might be better than the Titans

Just a completely embarrassing load of crap .....and we have how much left for our 2020 cap ??

But we’re getting a new gym and plunge pool !

I’m looking at plunge pools presently. How the hell can a 3m x 3m pool be as expensive as a standard fibreglass pool?? Doing my head in.

Off topic rant over.

So I wonder how our 1 to 5 players will enjoy the plunge pool at concord?

Pool will be full of iced champagne !

Chilling for another 10 years lol

Knowing how the club has been mis-managed over the last decade, I'd say none.

Lost Matterson, Matulino, Rochow, Fonua, Esan and Farah, and used that sweet sweet cash to buy nufty Walters and the brother of that Raiders centre. Yay Tigers recruitment, quality job as usual.

Wait... aren’t we getting Latrell and JAC? Didn’t Maguire ‘score’?

Kyle Turner come on down !

Serious question, Do the Tigers have a recruitment department or does Pascoe/Madge just wait for a player to ring him?

Cause id love to have a position in Pro sports where i just literally do nothing and get paid for it. If anything at this club needs a broom put through it, surely it starts at the recruitment department. Shameful

Now that we have missed out on LM, let's take a look at our 1-5....objectively.

1. Cory: tries very hard, no passing game, weak under the high ball, small. I think it is fair to say he is in the bottom tier of NRL fullbacks.

2. Nofa: improved considerably back end of last season. In no way a rep level winger though and no X factor.

3. Momo: a real pro, improved a ton. Can find the line. Lacks speed, size snd power though...

4. Mbye: not a half, not a FB, not a hooker, likely not a center either. Nice ability to pass, but generally undersized for the position.

5. Jennings......can fall over the line.

Depth: very little...State cup backs are terrible / the young guys we do have coming through are still kids.

Size, speed and power all lacking.

Tommy is the X factor...will make an enormous difference if he has an immediate impact.

JAC and AJ would offer legit speed and try scoring ability. We need something. Those last couple of roster spots have to be backs with X factor imo.

As it stands, that 1-5 is the worst in the comp. possibly Titans as bad. But all 1-5 lack key skills snd none have X factor.

Hard to disagree. It’s been a major disappointment that we haven’t been able to shore up our backline during the off season. All eggs were put in the Mitchell basket and it was always going to be a long shot for us to sign a player of that calibre.

I sure hope we find someone with speed and impact to buy before next season, but time is marching on and it’s not looking likely. JAC would be a dream, but that’s just it - he’s only a dream.

1 Moses Mbye - Best fullback we currently have. Good ballplayer and good support player
2 Corey Thompson - Great finisher
3 Robert Jennings - Give him a chance at his preferred position, should be making lots of early tackle hit ups
4 Paul Momirovski - Best centre we have
5 David Nofoaluma - Good finisher, makes lots of early tackle hit ups

9 Walters - hopefully he has been training to be an 80min dummy half. Mbye to cover if injured during a game.
14 Talau - give him at least 20min each game as a loose forward, centre or wing until he is ready to start

I would rather Robert Jennings earn his place in CC but we are very short on centres

I will probably get shot down for this but I honestly think Mbye is our best fullback currently, has speed, good ball player and is good in support play. Would be the first to admit last season he looked ordinary but I think his preseason injury had a lot to do with that.

I do agree though that our 1-5 in general looks pretty sad. If Talau has a good off season I’ve seen enough of him to bring him into the team round 1, the kid has talent and as the old saying goes, if you’re good enough, you’re old enough.

However for mine we have some holes, this is how I see our back 5...
1. Mbye (Needs to cement his spot this season)
2. Nofo (Needs a big year)
3. MOMO (goal kicker)
4. Talau (That word... potential)
5. Thompson (Toiler, no what we will get but is it enough)

I won’t shoot that comment down. If no one of note is coming I’d go with Mbye at fb. Was great there before he was injured.

Still have a feeling he’ll be 9 though

So do I mate but honestly I think that’s his weakest position, few unknowns leading into this season.

Yep. I even thought at centre he was ok considering he was carrying an injury. Who bloody knows? Might have to fit in Mitchell, JAC, Moylan and Frizell yet!?

Your looking at bottom 4 at best with that backline , now with the season fast approaching and starting to look a bit harder at what potential team will be on the park things are looking a bit bleak !
With some of the stronger teams that finished below us last season looking much better and stronger from a coaching and player aspect I am getting the feeling a period of languishing at the bottom of the table is fast approaching!

We have to looki to the future. I am quietly hoping Liam Scolari takes the right wing position from Nofoaluma this year and Curtis Wilson gets a run as well. Our recruit from Ballina, Kuyan Laurie (Roberts), - is one of the young players I am hoping will re-ignite the WTs' backline. Although he played second row in the clip, he looks like a centre to me - strenght, blinding pace and willingness in defence and the confrontation. That Larry Corowa was involved in his recruitment gets me excited.

Ur pinning our season on un tried rookies I don’t think so. Got to say iam really disappointed in Madge he came out and stated he need this and that Yet again we have got nothing, hate to say it we will be in the bottom 4 this year, and again people will say oh we are in a rebuilding stage, we have been in that stage for the last 10 odd years, getting really sick of that line.

He has played centre before but alternates
This page has 2019 clips. A good prospect:

Thanks for the advice and clips. His centre play is exciting and willingness in the physical contest.
