Our 1 to 5...

At least 2 of our remaining roster spots need to be on outside backs. Our roster is horribly unbalanced with an overload of backrowers and halves, and no hookers or outside backs.

I don't think that there is much in the club ready to promote & not a lot available to sign.

In the offseason players like Shibasaki, Ramien, Scott, Pearson And Tuala have moved clubs and not sure we made a play at any of them.

We will likely end up with unsigned players like Hiroti, Jacob Gagan, Aaron Gray, John Olive or Brad Abbey.

The best option may be to approach a club that are in a tight cap situation and see if we can pick someone up. Maybe we could get George Jennings?

The only player I expect to see improve is Talau and I don't expect we will see much consistency in his 1st season

How can anyone build any hope with this roster

It’s just better this way ...
Finals footy is WAY to stressful.

Do you think Talau will start the season though, think we may not see him until a few rounds in.

I think MOMO will improve, full offseason to work in combinations and a chance to start season at centre will see him step up.

Tend to agree, maybe Brooks might take his game up a peg, but as for the rest except Talau have peaked and on the way down.
Of course my main concern is any backline injuries. We have zero depth for probably another 18 months till some of the kids make the next step.

On a bright note the forward pack should be able to hold its own against most teams

Our backs and forward pack is going to be reliant on the service it's get from the 9 ....don't get your hopes up SC

The no9 is a massive issue, although the club doesn’t seem overly concerned. It’s not like they have ran out and purchased a stop gap replacement. So I guess they are going to wing it to Simkins or Liddle are ready

****JOKING*****

4 Paul Momirovski - Best centre we have
5 David Nofoaluma - Good finisher, makes lots of early tackle hit ups

9 Walters - hopefully he has been training to be an 80min dummy half. Mbye to cover if injured during a game.
14 Talau - give him at least 20min each game as a loose forward, centre or wing until he is ready to start

I would rather Robert Jennings earn his place in CC but we are very short on centres

He is the Joker that Sart0ri thinks should be making lots of early hit-ups.

So you think we should sign a player, get them fit, get them motivated then throw them on the scrapheap? We have to make the best use of 30 players. If a person has issues and works to fix them, I would give them another chance.

1. Abbey/Mbye/?
2. JAC
3. Momi
4. Talau
5. C.T - due to experience notches Nof

Wing backup: D.N, Dylan Smith, Scolari/Wilson means the cupboard is pretty bare

Centre: Jennings, Cini.

Anybody got the list of new juniors (and posi)

I agree with most that Jennings was terrible last season but there seemed to be a planned move to put him into the centres and maybe that’s why he seemed a lot more bulked up.

Looking at the pics from preseason training now he has leaned right up which can only help with his speed and lateral movement.

He’s naturally a pretty big lad so fingers crossed we get a much better version of him this season.

* On form (2018 - fell over the line 17 times and scored an actual try himself once), in 2019 you wouldn't feed him.

* He was just as unfit at t he end of 2019 as he was at the start.

* He is not a centres bootlace, whether he thinks he is or not.

* We can't afford to carry losers (we already have enough of them)

You may want to give him another chance - I wouldn't have given him the first one.

I give him 1 more chance and 1 only and that chance is in the pre season trial

And the nines match if he is picked

I hope Dillon kicks on I saw a lot of 20’s games last year and he was our best att king player, and opposition sides screamed his name continuously as the danger man last yearI know he was our quickest in testing yesterday at concord and the mail is snoopy Collins is looking to start him at fullback in cc within the first few rounds. Hope has put on some size to go with the pace

I am hoping you are right Tigerboy re JAC.

That backline you have listed is basically our best case scenario at this point: JAC comes plus Abbey regains form after two knee recons (unlikely, but here's hoping)

Re Scolario....agree he is a prospect, but he is not eligible for NRL this year?

1.M. Mbye. Many writing Moses off after last season but,I would like to see him given another shot at FB now he is fully recovered from his injuries.Has good speed and a nice passing game and can organise the defence well.

2.D. Nofoaluma. For me the first winger picked ATM,makes good metres from his hitups out of our own end,and with a better defensive centre inside him his defence will show improvement

3.P. Momirovski. Enjoy watching this guy and hope he continues to improve, but agree with the lack of pace and/or size I have my doubts on how much improvement there will be,keeps his job in fg for now especially for the goal kicking alone.

4.R.Jennings. Gets the start at centre because of experience and tbh coz there is no-one else.Madge I don't think will start Talau round 1 and will go with a more experienced side to start the year.Jennings looks fitter and it is a contract year for him so let's hope he steps up.

5.C.Thompson. The small guy with a giant heart, and as tough as they come.A fan favourite he gives his all for the full 80.Reality us though both Corey and Jennings will go to cup once signings are made.I ideally see Corey as the perfect backup for fg when injuries occur.

With the uncertainty surrounding J. Reynolds I think Mbye will start the year at hooker,And Corey will remain at FB.I think the 2020 season for the tigers will come down to..
1)M Mbye...how he performs in whatever position he plays and as Captain of the team,
2)B. Walters... Madge obviously saw something in this guy to believe he can be a good back up to the 6 and 9 position, and with Liddle out and Benji most likely being out some games,Billy will see game time,
3) Whoever comes into the team as a winger, centre or fullback, whether that be JAC or AJ or another signing, will have a big bearing on how this team improves, let's hope M Maguire and J Pascoe make this happen.
