why in the world would you say to the fans that we are gunna thrash the roosters , and then the other guy says are we gunna kick their asses today or what …..well that would spur me on ....and the come on lets yell tigers ....

Encourage the crowd not to cheer, remain quiet for fear of spurring on the opposition?

He's obviously trying to hype up the crowd, not an easy job with a team like ours.

To be honest I thought that was an interesting thing to say at the time and then didn't give it another thought till I read your comment. The Roosters were all still out on the field warming up. I know that the job is to rev up the crowd but I actually don't know that this was the right way to do it.
