Our membership could triple

We are trying to get people to our games.

The whining about crowds on here is endless.

From what I can see, this just will encourage people to stay home

Well they've won this Tigers supporter back Ink

Lets just hope merchandising doesn't chase me off again

I really dont get the point of this thread.

It seems to be pushing the idea of non ticketed memberships with a shirt or jersey thrown in.

I think they have that next year….and theres been non ticketed memberships available for years now.

Focussing on people staying away from our games seems counter productive/insane

The point Innsane is there are thousands and thousands of people who could become 'funders' who are not coming to the live game.

Many businesses have achieved a lot of success from finding the right focus for marketing campaigns. This put very plainly is finding the balance between market potential (number of potential buyers) and how easy it is to convert the potential into actual sales.

Our biggest opportunity is fans who just want to watch on TV. We need to target our marketing campaigns on this group to maximise revenue. The Feb / March campaign would then focus on members being able to bulk purchase dedicated seats.

Do you think we need to move away from being a joint venture to one club before some these initiatives can really prosper ?

Yes.

One club. Absolutely. Last week was the second step on that journey. Massive. Made the whole season worthwhile. If we were winning it wouldn't have happened.

Now the club needs to get the right talent in around Mayer. Marketing talent will be a key.

The other point is this

How many Tigers fans don't live within 4 hours of either Leichardt or Campbelltown

Ten of Thousands I would say

Even if they only get 1000 members that sign that wouldn't already do so , the club has had a win imo

I have been a Wests Magpies/Wests Tigers supporter, since my father took me to games in 1948\. My only “connection” with soccer was to coach my young sons at different times, after doing a junior player’s coaching course back in 1977.

My younger son and my grandson, who are long-time Tiger supporters, are still soccer players and late last year they were speaking, with much enthusiasm, about the Western Sydney Wanderers. They are foundation members of the club and they asked me to come to a home game early in the season, as they had a spare ticket. What a revelation!

As a result I attended most of their home games, the Grand Final, the Socceroos v Iraq and the Manchester United game. My 13 year-old grandson was a ball-boy at all of these matches.

What happened to attract my interest to this degree?

**MARKETING!**

At this stage, the Wanderers have sold all of their 2013-14 home ground tickets, except for some left on the South Terrace of Parramatta Stadium. **This guarantees crowds of about 18,000 minimum to ALL of their home games**. How have they done this?

**MARKETING!**

_**What did FFA do to start the club?**_

_Following the community forums, FFA launched an online survey to decide on various options for the new club. It covered similar aspects of culture, location, team colour and playing style. A final survey was later launched with a specific focus on the clubs colours and name. Options for team colours were Black and Red, Black and White, and Red, White and Black. Options for the team name were Athletic, Wanderers, Wolves, Strikers and Rangers.
The official club name, logo and colours were formally announced on 25 June 2012\. The name Western Sydney Wanderers was officially released, as was the club logo, the home playing strip, the home ground Parramatta Stadium. The name 'Wanderers' had been an overwhelming favourite among fans and community groups, with it also paying homage to the Wanderers, the first registered association football club in Australia, who played in the area in 1880._

They got prospective members and followers involved right from the start by working through the local Junior Soccer Clubs in Western Sydney.

**MARKETING!**

The thing that is missing from the whole of Rugby League in Australia is good marketing. While we continually look towards ex-footballers for management and key employee positions and fail to look for people with the proven, necessary skills, Rugby League will continue to bumble along.

If you are looking for “proof” that Soccer is growing, Manchester City, one of the biggest, richest Clubs, has shown interst in buying the Western Sydney Wanderers from the FFA and the buy price is estimated to be $15 million!

the wanderers are an outstanding organization, just left one of their functions.
Earlier last year they were guests of the chamber of Commerce and the coach, ceo and chairman each spoke to virtually every one in the room asked what we did, how business was and alike, very different from the NRL culture, we could learn a lot from how they do business

As for the original post, could not agree more.
Separating season tickets from membership is a good idea

Yeah, getting that extra revenue from fans who want to contribute as best they can to the club is great imo.

Also, if there's an option to buy discounted tickets, a double or a family ticket then that gives fans enormous flexibility. If i just wanted to help out the club and i'd try to make a game or two i'd get that for sure. If i dont go, oh well, but if there's a chance i might go i'll probably end up going since ive got these discounted tickets!

Just reported on 2GB that the Wanderers have sold out their memberships, that is they have sold all their season tickets for 2013-14\. This means they have a guaranteed crowd of 20,000 for ALL OF THEIR HOME GAMES.

There are plenty of lessons to be learnt from this very sharp, extremely competent club management. Again, I say, look out ARLC, they are coming to get you!

a winning team is what attracted you ,not marketing ….and that's all it will take for the tigers to get back on track ...

May I say that I attended three games BEFORE the Wanderers won a game! Therefore they were NOT a winning team until after I went to their games.

Having spent twenty years in Marketing Managent in three large, international companies, may I say that if it looks like good marketing, it sounds like good marketing and it smells like good marketing, IT COULD POSSIBLY BE GOOD MARKETING.

how does 20k memberships guaruntee 20k crowds? Some won't turn up, and some don't give access to every home game right?

So the club is saying they have sold out of seating at the 2 suburban grounds ..now that is an admission they could of sold double or triple at the stadium 30 thousand plus Well in saying that the club is being run by gooses!

Tickets will be a premium, embers who dont go will almost certainly ass tickets on….

Enormous performance from the wanderers.

The NRL at large does not look to others for good ideas very often and prefers try an attack.

Id like to see a number of clubs endorse some of the practices.

I was at a function with Gu, the guest speaker, someone asked what could be learned from the wanderers, his response was that the wanderers were clearly a threat and we better protect our patch and not make it easy for them?? not really answering the question, I was hoping they would be looking to replicate what was done well.

That may be true for the majority but there's always exceptions. I get access to tickets through work but still want to support my team so I'm a non-ticketed member.

Thanks Mccarry and also some great points there MightyMaggy!

I hope our powers that be are reading this and taking some notes. AFL and Wanderers are all over us and we need to get our act together. 100% the way WT are marketed needs to be vastly improved.

For the first time in several years I did not buy membership in 2013, I was confused about exactly where I fitted in to the WT. It would have just been easier to put a $50 or $100 in an envelope and just send it in, and I would have done that if I knew it would be spent right!

I am an out of towner and the ticketing structure did not suit me and as for the merchandise, well the only thing worth having was the cap (sometimes).

They will have my money for 2014 and they can keep the cheap merchandise, no need to waste any of my donation!

West Tigers Membership needs to be re-focused

A membership of Wests Tigers is a different product to a seating package.

Source: http://weststigersmembership.com.au/

"Welcome to the 2014 Wests Tigers season!

2014 marks the beginning of an exciting new era at the Club and by becoming
a Member you play an important role in the journey ahead.

Members are the lifeblood of NRL Clubs and your support makes a difference to the
Wests Tigers ability to succeed on and off the field. **Memberships are no longer about a
seat at the game**; it’s a show of passion, pride and commitment to your team – Wests Tigers"

Anyone would think someone from WT is reading our forum. A club that listens. Awesome!

The membership message on the website is excellent. Fills me with confidence that our club is realising the pent up demand that resides in the fan base.

We all now need to get on board and get EVERY tiges fan we know to walk accross the membership line. Your not a real fan if you are not a member.
