Our new squad, depth and competition!

Anyone else happy besides me that Farah is almost gone? Wait to you guys see how much better off we are without him. Now just for the rest of my WT oxygen thieves to be removed and things are looking up. Go JT! Laying down the law!

Even if these signings look good as soon as we give any struggling fringe players or unknowns a break and invest the time they need to turn into somthing good, we cant keep them anyway. As soon as they become a talent, they want to be at any other club over wests. Ontop of that we then have to pay them more than anyone else to keep them. Just like taupau couldnt get a run at the dogs, comes here on potential, shows his talent and then feels hes to good for the club and leaves. The only hope is that we somehow have a really really good 2016 season if next year is like the last were in huge trouble.

My WT oxygen thief list:

Farah
Lawrence
Buchanan
Halatau
Naiqama
Milone
Hoeter
Lovett

They all suck. None of them are dynamic. They are good state cup players.

Am I missing anyone?

If I had my way I would get rid of them all, blood the new guys and go out and buy some reputable players.

Our halves are also hanging on by a thread.

Sorry guys but I am sick of the old "we'll be a better team in a few years".

We have all waited long enough.

I don't like Taylor's tactics, but at least he's prepared to have tough and honest conversations. I am praying we somehow get Toovey if Taylor goes.

Robbie's one of our best.
Kevin was our shiny light this season.
Chris was pretty good in his new position.
Dene went allright too.
The rest i'm not fussed on either.

its hilarious when people say watch us go when Farah is not there.

Ignoring the fact we are about 3 of our last 25 without him in the side. from memory our winning percentage drops from around 50% to under 25% without him. I will dig up the stats if challenged.

Anyway, don't let the facts get in the way of a cool story i suppose.

Well we also haven't had a decent backup 9 since de gois left. Wonder why we'd be losing games when Robbie's not there if we've got no-one decent to replace him with…

Being optimistic there's some exciting times ahead with a new look side and the new interchange rules.
- 2nd row looks much stronger with Lawrence to hopefully keep on improving. There were some really good signs there at times. Pretty sure it will be
Lawrence, Edwards and Sirro.

Hopefully Taylor is gone and replaced by Cleary sooner rather then later (do it now!) and the club is all on the same path and Cleary lets the halves play their natural games.

- More depth in the backs and some extra speed. Hoping Carr, Hunt or Chee-Kam step up. I'm thinking
Nofo and Simona are first picked. Then Kevvie, and Carr or Hunt.

Being pessimistic there are alot of unproven and unknown abilites amongst the new guys.
Front row looks concerning unless the Ipswich boys suprise us. Thinking
Woods and Sue with Ava and Griffin interchanging. Will probably have to use Buchanan over Griffin in the early rounds.

Halves could go either way this season. No doubt can be game breakers, but a strict attacking structure will not suit them at this stage of their careers. Defense is always going to be an issue for them both. Play Walker Brother footy and do the best to win the possession every game. More ball in hand simply means less tackling to do.

Farah and Taylor issue has already de-railed our season and will have an influence on the harmony of the team and therefore results on the field.

In the last two seasons, we are 18 wins from 48 games (37.50%). All of the stats below relate only to 2014 and 2015.

When Farah has played we are 16/35 = 45.71%. When Farah has not played, we are 2/13 = 15.38%.

However don't get too excited just yet.

We are 48.00% wins when Nofoaluma plays (12/25) and 26.09% (6/23) when he does not.
We are 47.22% wins when Woods plays (17/36) and 8.33% (1/12) when he does not.
We are 47.06% wins when Simona plays (16/34) and 14.29% (2/14) when he does not.

So arguably, in the last two years, Nofo is about as important for winning as Farah, and Farah is less important than Simona or Woods.

For important players who have not missed many games, we were 0/4 (0.00%) when Brooks was out, 1/5 (20.00%) when Richards was out and 2/7 (28.57%) when Galloway was out.

Just as an interesting aside, of the 25 players we used in 2015, only 8 of them gave a better winning record when they played than when they did not (Tedesco, Nofo, Simona, Richards, Brooks, Woods, Farah, Galloway).

Of all the others, we won more often (as a percentage) when they were not in the side. There are some standouts (more than 10 played, less than 30% wins):
Hoeter - 1 win out of 7 games played (14.29%)
Halatau - 7 wins out of 26 games played (26.92%)
Buchanan - 4 wins out of 16 games played (25.00%)
Santi - 3 wins out of 11 games played (27.27%)
Moses - 10 wins out of 34 games played (29.41%)
Lovett - 6 wins out of 21 games played (28.57%)

The trend here is that our worst performers, in terms of wins per game, are almost entirely backups. Whilst this is to be expected, my concern is how much consistently worse the win rates are when these backups are called upon; a real indication of lack of depth. Makes sense that the club would go on a low-tier recruitment drive for 2016.

Great stats, jirskyr. I am reminded of [this site](http://www.correlated.org) though.

I'm interested: where do you find these player lists?
