Packer, Locke & Matulino on the Outer

The troubled end to the Warriors’ season is causing ructions at the Auckland NRL club. Kevin Locke and Russell Packer are unlikely to be at Mt Smart next season, amid suggestions star prop Ben Matulino wants out.

Kiwi internationals Locke and Packer are believed to be interested in moving from Auckland. While both players are under contract for next season, it is understood the Warriors may consider releasing them.

While the Warriors might be prepared to let Locke and Packer go, any suggestion Matulino wants out will rock them and they will do their best to keep him

Sources say Matulino has been unhappy at the Warriors this season, and a tweet from him said: ”When the boat’s about to sink its time to jump off”, sending the rumour mill into overdrive.

He later clarified: ”That tweet wasn’t directed at the club, I’m 100% for the club and here till 2015 – don’t jump to conclusions. Was a personal joke.”

There is little chance of Matulino gaining a release, as he is regarded as one of the best props in the world.

All three are quality players. Without this turning into a thread about me or how much of a grub Packer is, would you want the club to sign any of these guys? In my opinion we should go all out to get Matulino and Packer, we would be up there with the best forward packs in the game. Woods, Galloway, Ava, Matulino, Packer and Brown prop rotation would be sensational.
 
Brown = packer
Woods = matulino

Both good players but we don't need either of them.

If Locke goes, it is because he wants to play fullback. He is not a suit for us, as I can't see Mick Potter moving Tedesco aside.

Packer seems like a bit of an idiot, but he changes the dynamics of a team when he is on the field. I highly rate him.

Matulino is a beast. Any team would want to sign him up.
 
Sign up Matulino one of the best props going around and still so young. Having David kidwell is a plus in getting him over as he is well respected in NZ & take his game to the next level.
 
IMHO we should throw the house at Matulino. Absolute beast and would be the basis of a pack that dents the opposition consistently. More mongrel and aggression that several of our forwards put together

I think Andrew Fifita would have something to say about that…

If the Tomkins deal is signed, sealed, delivered, Locke would be a good purchase for the Dogs.

I was thinking Locke would be ideal for the dogs… He's an incredible player just inconsistent. Kinda like Barba was before 2012 (not comparing them in any way other than inconsistency)

I reckon with Marshall gone we'd have some cash up our sleeve. I'd take Matulino or Packer. Packer is a mongrel and we need some of that.

We definetly could use Packer or big Ben. They are big, tough, hard, no-nonsense players who intimidate attacks and worry defenses. We need mongrel next year to accompany and protect the skilful youth that our playing roster will be dominated with.
