Accidentally switched to AFL Footy Show instead of cricket and they were discussing whether pain killers are Performance enhancing or Performance enabling

Thought it was an interesting argument to be honest

To be honest ,they are performance enhancing as you wouldn't be able to even perform without them

Maybe if we abandoned pain killers players would be able to extend their careers without pain killers

What do others think ??

They allow you to function better when youre laid down, injured, sick ….but not beyond your capabilities
Nothings enhanced bar a _lowered_ range of ability

Yeah, i think it's more of a performance restorer. It's nothing beyond your normal cabibilities, but there should be some discretion by medical staff to ensure reinjury is not a major problem.

Yes but a lot of prohibited drugs are recovery drugs. Doesn't improve beyond capabilities.

And slot of drugs also are on performance enhancing.
Contador was suspended for 12 months for clenbuteral. It's a diarrhetic. Not performance enhancing.

Recovery drugs are as bad. It's unfair on the ones who don't take it. Makes them able to perform at a more constant period of time.

Lots of non banned pain killers too…Im guession this is what OP is alluding to....though this is where this entire argument gets blurred

Didnt Warney have a diureticor two?

Recovery (from injury) drugs are the key to better overall team performance. These are not necessarily pain killers.

The illegal recovery drugs are illegal most likely because they either haven't been properly tested or have been tested but have adverse side effects. It's not fair to make people take harmful drugs with the alternative being slower recovery.

Was told Thursday that Isaac Gordon will be suing the the Sharks as one of the drugs was working as a blood thinner and caused him some clotting issues

Anyone heard the same ??
