Pangai Junior

Is this Pangai the next superman? By the sound of so many on this forum it seems that he is able carry a team on his shoulders. But. but why were Broncos so ready to get rid of him? If he was so good he would have been so very to the Broncos yesterday.

Not fussed if we don't get him. Will eat too much salary cap and is very risky given his inconsistency.

We have to sign someone and he's by far and away the best available. He also addresses a couple of weaknesses (offloads and impact).

Going into next year with Gildart and Hastings as our major signings will be a complete disaster.

The attitude of "we have to sign someone" is exactly what got us in this salary cap mess. The club appears to have decided to take the patient approach, and Madge confirmed that when he said we will be not looking at a "quick fix, bandaid approach".

Titans still suck with Fifita and Tino. Bulldogs still suck with Thompson, Flanagan, Cotric, and Allan. Look at the top teams and how many "big name" signings they made in the prior few years.

Well it’s taking us from a salary cap mess to a no one wants to play for us mess because 1. We’re rubbish, from pretty much top to bottom as an organisation and 2. We won’t pay overs for anyone.

All these youngsters will leave after their first deals because their clearly isn’t any intent to drastically improve the team anytime soon

Pangai is not the guy to pay overs on, we already went past what we wanted to pay. If he goes to the dogs for more than so be it.

Then I hope this club is ready to embrace the spoon next season. Regardless of how much the bulldogs are paying their players next year, it’s a drastically better side than ours. Every other club around us is improving and we are completely stuck in the mud

Are the Titans a better side on paper this year than last year? Why are they further down the ladder?

Games are not won on paper.

There a young team with improving players and have attracted a forward pack leader in Liu next year. They will finish higher than us off talent alone

228+ pages of fluff about an overpaid, underperforming, hit and miss player that Broncos are keen to toss.
Is that it? Are we down to be that desperate?

But why are they below where they were last year? They signed big name players to make their fans feel warm and fuzzy.

If it was a long term dynasty or NFL fantasy comparison I'd be happy to settle with Tuki.

We don't need to mortgage the club to sign him and he may turn out to be just as good.

If we miss TPJ I'm ok with that.

Exactly! New signings isn't the only way a squad improves - the experience our youngsters like Laurie, Stefano and Simpkins are picking up will put us in a better position next year even in the absence of big name signings. These blokes have me excited for the future.

Give me a break, we played the wooden spooners. It’s a legit coinflip between the bulldogs and broncos as the worst team in the Comp. the difference ? They’ll improve next year with their signings.

If we're not allowed get overly-positive after beating Brisbane, by the same token we shouldn't get all 'woe is me' after a thrashing at the hands of someone like Melbourne, who is flogging anyone that comes their way.

I do think it is a fair observation that our best performers this year are are young blokes who should only get better. While our worst (or total non-performers) are the older, dead wood like Mbye, Packer, BJ, that will all be gone in the next year or two.

We are improving, did you notice who the better players were yesterday?

Exactly! New signings isn't the only way a squad improves - the experience our youngsters like Laurie, Stefano and Simpkins are picking up will put us in a better position next year even in the absence of big name signings. These blokes have me excited for the future.

They are the big names of the near future

And they’ll be at another club by the time they’re a big name because this club can’t improve the situation around them

I think the club has improved quite a lot over the last few years, financially strong, good management and soon to have great facilities, once we kick a goal in reaching the finals, everything will be in place to make the club one of the power houses in the comp?

Can't get any more negative than that.

I hate when people say this but im going to say it.

If our so called fans are sooking because the Bulldogs have or might sign someone we are interested in well then go and support the Bulldogs.

People who actually understand where this club is at understand the recruitment we have already done and how it will project over the next couple of seasons.

Stop being miserable losers and find the bigger picture.

As much as I would like him here, I agree
Let's not get into a bidding war

I hope our group of players can start to build some success of the back of last week's win
I know it was just against the Broncos but they were just as hungry and had home ground advantage
I can't imagine we miss out on Pangai for $20'000
I'm not sure what our offer was but let's say $600'000
Would he really go the the Bulldogs for $620'000, if I was a player I wouldn't
$650'000 maybe
If he is mates with Ofahengaue then you would think that would help
But obviously not at this point
So at this point it looks like we have zilch
Wonder what I will be doing with my spare time next year because it is really looking like I won't be following football
