interested to see what everyone's view is on keeping sheens:
FOR
- players seem to love him
- won us a premiership and got us to the semi last year
- australian coach
- one of the few vastly experienced coaches out there
- the dark ages: the coaches that came before him, e.g terry lamb
- attractive style of footy
AGAINST
- 2 finals series in last 15 years of coaching
- perhaps becoming stale and therefore time for a change
- stubborn with selecting certain players (fitzy) and out of position (morris, moltzen, harrison, etc)
- some non-obvious choices exist, Steve Folkes being one of them already on our staff
- too powerful (bad thing?) - can overthrow CEOs, untouchable by the media?
- defence hardly seems to improve on a consistent basis

For me its time, we just need a new coach new ideas and some new players. Okay it might not work and Sheens has had a horror year with injuries but we cant keep getting out enthused every week. Last night the Bronks didnt play well and the Goldcoast were rubbish. Sheens needs a new challenge and we need a new coach

The opinions in these threads about re-signing Sheens are really funny. After a loss, we need a new coach, when we're winning, we must re-sign him. Glad we have a smart CEO who will make the right decision.
Unless Bennett or Bellamy suddenly becomes available, Sheens is the best option. Not re-signing Sheens is likely to send us down the path of Parramatta. I remember a lot of people wanted us to replace Sheens with Daniel Anderson before he joined Parra, and Kearney was also mentioned. Look where it got them.

Best of waiting til post season and do a post mortem then . Who knows the team may turn it around next week and go on and win premiership . But in the mean time I won't be holding my breath either

I guess the question is, and we will never know the answer - how would we be going if Tuqiri and Lawrence weren't on the sidelines?
If you judge Sheens on the squad he has assembled then its a pass mark, I dont know however if he has handled the injury problem as well as we could have.

Longmuir was an acting CEO with no proven track record in anything but marketing!!! Longmuir had very little clue & certainly was not picked up by anyone else when he left us - instead the likes of Parra picked up Osborne who is even less talented in that role!!!

I in no way blame him for our current form slump and I do think he can coach, his record proves that. I also Iam aware after a loss the knives come out and after a win the knives are put back in the cupboard but I really think he is pasy his use by date at the Tigers. I also would not go down the road of another coach from the past (Ie Folks). Time to move on, I have always been a Nathan Brown fan but Iam sure their are plenty of good coaches out their.

The biggest thing for myself is sheens inability to motivate the players. Some weeks we just roll over. You don't see that at the storm or the dragons.Maybe sheensy has just got too stale and has utilized all his tricks.
I would be holding off on his contract renewal for now.

i outlined some points to see what everyone thought. my concern is the consistency throughout the year as mentioned by others but particularly in defence. in saying that, i shudder when thinking of the terry lamb days and prefer the stability. it is a tough one!

i am confident gentle or folkes would do the head coaching job well if sheens decides he wants to coach else where so im not worried. a decision should probably be made soon though

..and just about every one of the "against" reasons relates to the reality of PERFORMANCE & RESULTS
You cant judge a coach by one game,or even one season(although Eels may beg to differ!),but medium term results over a couple of seasons & more importantly the actions & decisions that led to those results.
The "against "column sums up the majority of the past 6 years .
