What has Sheens been waiting all this time for? Does he think he has reached all he can achieve at the WTs ie for one reason or another he doesn't think he can improve on our finish last year? is he too familiar with the club as a whole and needs a change? would he prefer to finish his career in England? there may be personal or family reasons who knows? It is odd though that if an offer has been on the table for a while from WTs then he must be having doubts or was he just holding out for more money (can't blame him) or a condition in the contract that WTs hadn't /wouldn't meet? He has an offer from Penrith which he hasn't jumped at either.
Reportedly we should know by the end of this week but wait, is that Friday, Saturday or Sunday? Has Blair been waiting to see who the coach will be?

Sheens is not worth the money being bandied about. He remains a "good coach" in the same way that the likes of Nathan Brown, Graham Murray, Daniel Anderson, John Lang etc etc are considered "good coaches". They know how to operate in and around a footy club and get players to perform however, he is no super star, and his overall record with the Tigers is NOT flash.
Let's have a look at his long term coaching record dating back 14 years to 1997 - he has made the finals just twice in his last 13 seasons as a coach (he had 2002 off because of depression) and his win rate over this 14 year stretch is a miserable 37%. It does not entitle him to the sort of $$s he is holding out for. He is living off a reputation that was forged over 15 years ago when Canberra breached salary caps to provide him with a blue chip playing roster. Sheens was once a very good coach, but that was a long long time ago.
10 losing seasons in 13 years, only 2 play-off campaigns in 13 seasons + a 37% win rate is not good enough.
Player's like Benji say they want to play their entire career under Sheens, but there is a view - which I share - that suggests maybe Marshall may get even better under the tutelage of fresh input from someone other than Sheens.
I think Wests should let the guy go - he is obviously shopping around his wares and testing the market. Let him go. His judgements are not what they used to be, and we saw evidence of that again when he coached Australia last year. The Tigers form hasn't been to crash hot this year so far either, and in my opinion the sheen wore off Mr Sheens some time ago.

either way whatever happens its definitely going to affect the players this year injuries or no injuries. too many of the players are close with him, what about benji? isnt he supposed to be like some father figure for him? be interesting to see benji's form if sheens decides to go. i reckon we'll lose more of our up and comers that we were hoping on keeping also if sheens walks.

Why do all you guys start sheens stats at 97 if you going back why not from when he started when he got the panthers to the very first semi final in 85 and he had nothing to work with no bottomless pitt of money no structures he built that club from the ground up bennett has never done that and never will.
The cap problem they had at canberra in 90 i think wasnt a major breach it had nothing to do with the players he had and alot of other teams the same year were also caught out.
So another sheens thread from a first timer and will proably never hear from again.haha
The 4 coaches you mentioned have won 1 grand final between them with a combined total of over 40 years and brown had a good team to work with.Id compare what lang has done at struggling clubs as simalar to sheens.

folkes has won 1 and made the semis at least another half a dozen times ….so what happens to the mighty wests tigers in say 4 years when tim retires ...some people think we are doomed without him ... i see a new coach who can give some good players some fresh ideas......

He record win ratio if your referring to could be alot higher if he didnt coach panthers for 4 years wen they were struggling and took over the cowboys whe nthey run last as well and at that club he couldnt pick hiw team but players he wanted there wa massive internal issues.Hes time at canberra obviously picked his averages up.
I think hes done a good job with us cq we had won a grand final and 1 off it last year. Ask hindmarsh if he would swap his 4 or so semi final and gfinal appearances with 1 win i know what he would say.

very true this, thats why i hate the grandeur people give bennett it makes me sick. im not denying he's a great coach but he has never picked up a club from the ground up.
