Panthers offer Sheens $2m deal

Some people believe that when Sheens goes the Wests Tigers will definately go back to how we were before Sheens came to the club. I think that's ridiculous.

Well hes been with us since 03 and our club has improved leaps and bounds on and off the field.

I have never denied that but why would it be tough times ahead if he was to move on?

We have most of our gun players signed up on long term contracts, with a couple of young exceptions.

We have the best and most marketable player in our side, who players enjoy playing with, and players will consider moving here just to play with.

We have a large fan base, we are doing quite well financially.

We have a great backing from sponsors and from one of the richest men in the country.

Sheens is not bigger than the club. He is only one person and is not taking all these things away.

The players love him and so do most of the board members he has the football club side of things heading in a good direction.

Well he is the one leaving, not the other way around.

@tiger4ever said:
And to say our players our contracted so they cant leave …..using one of your fav words... your deluded.lol

If you think our side is just going to pack their bags and leave just because our coach moves on then I think you might be deluded. And quite frankly, if any of them want to move on then they are free to go. No player or coach will ever be bigger than the club.

I can't see how we will automatically be thrown into "tough times ahead" just because Sheens decides to move on. How?

Well hybrid tells us why its a good thing for him to move on.

He may be moving on if he does but the club should have tied him up last year never let your best people get to there final year of their contract.Anyway lets hope its get resolved this week preferably.Maybe this is why we been playing like busteds.

Some people ah alien.

x2 Unless he takes the entire coaching squad with him and we sign an undisciplined coach not going to happen . Sheens has been here a long time and the club will get behind whoever we sign if Sheens does leaves Plus our core group of players are very experienced at NRL level

I think that he would be a loss, however, he has done alot of work and i dont think the would be willing to do all the same work again and wait to make another grand final. Frankly, we were unlucky last year in the semis and could have been premiers and we wouldnt be having this conversation, i think any prospective coach would be licking there lips in regards to the talented roster players we have on board, really wo do the panthers have??? REALLY??? If it wasnt for Luke Walshskicking game last year they would have been pushing the pervivial uphill to get to the semis. Who do they have Jennings, Coote, Gordon and Lewis, Waterhouse is being chaed by St Helens, they wouldnt even be close to us in player talent really. :sign:

In agreement here. The only way we can go backwards is if we go out and sign Matthew Elliott, Michael Hagan or Daniel Anderson. Cant see us picking up any of them though.

just saw on twitter rugby league week and the mole that Tim Sheens is leaning at staying with the tigers not over the line but wants to stay and the mole said why would you wanna leave benji and farah in there prime years i wouldnt so i dont know how much to read into this but i hope he stays….

You cant blame a person trying to get a fist full of dollars but Iam afraid Sheen's timing is not good. We are in a massive hole at present, injuries and poor form right through all our teams and this coaching thing has been going on for weeks. Okay the Penrith thing just happened but Sheens has been in the market place for weeks. The club offered him a contract now he has to yes or no in a hurry so the club can re focus on 2011\. From where I sit a lot of gloss is falling off our super coach every minute this drags on. Its pretty simple a yes or a no

get it sorted, either way.
make a decision and move on.
I do hope this is not going to turn into a big thread.
we already have that in the Lote thread.

the only person that we are aware of who HAD a get-out-clause was Benji, however his latest 5 year contract had that clause removed

there could be others, but that information hasn't been made public

btw: Gentle or Gentel?

Nope, youre wrong.
I heard Humphries interviewed several weeks ago and they asked him of this - specifically Benji - he stated no player in the club has any contract binding them to Sheens
SC its not Sheens timing, its Penriths and WTs have givn him till the weekend which makes me tend to think they think or know hes gone.
It really isnt Wests Tigers style- giving ultimatums, particulary not with HRH Herr Sheens who basically is king.

To be honest why would the guy leave as already stated he has built this place over the 9 yrs and the roster is going to be unreal over the next couple of seasons..but maybe he thinks it,s time to move on and when people start throwing that type of money around it would make you think. I personaly think we as a club need a fresh approach to build on what has been done ,if the coach leaves he has left the place in a better condition than when he arrived.

Yep. We were a rabble and he has turned the club around. Admittedly there would have been a lot of other people in management and players who really pushed the club forward but Sheens played a huge role.

Yes he can make terrible decisions when it comes to selecting a team but when he gets it right (& he does eventually) he can create a game plan that can win us as many games as the squad has the ability to win.

I don't really care if he stays or goes because as another poster said no coach or player is bigger than the team. We might get lucky and pick up a better coach but I think it is pretty unlikely. So long as we get a quality coach, the team doesn't fall into a rabble with ill discipline on and off the field, the forwards go forward, we get a good run with injuries and our key players play out of their skins we can win the comp.

BREAKING NEWS: Tim Sheens leaning towards staying at Tigers… not over line but sources say he wants to stay.

Maybe the bigger money plus the challenge to get the Panthers up is the go here.$2m is a good offer though for anyone. If he goes maybe some of WT off contract players could go too.Who knows.Hopefully for us Coach Sheens stays until 2011 season is finished and gets us back into winning form as we need it…..Just my thoughts.......

:sign: :wtf

For me it's the devil you know. We have had one of, if not the most stable rosters for the last few years. There has to be a reason for that.
