I've heard many players past and present say in interviews that when they play in PNG, at times the crowds can get incredibly rowdy, yet as players they never feel even the slightest bit afraid because they are so fanatical about rugby league that they know the fans will never do anything to them.

Good move by the QRL this is a step in the right direction in terms of growing the international game.

My uncle worked for Thiess in Lae in the late 70's and 80's and actually decided to play some footy up there to keep fit

He said the PNG boys seemed to love him because he was one of the few white people who were prepared to do that and while other families had problems with the locals he never seemed to have any and he wondered whether that had something to do with it ??

It would be more to do with the lack of lifestyle over there that players would baulk at when it comes to living there you would think. Players would be hard up to find a latte shop or a tattoo parlour in PNG.

And also Candice Falzon doesn't live there :wink:
