Very happy to see the Aussies doing so well across so many sports.
Gone are the days of winning a couple of golds in the pool and then struggling through all other events, winning a surprise one here or there.
Great day with 4 golds!

Yesterday’s gold medal haul was even more amazing when you consider that the swimming had nothing to do with it!

The best table I saw was the one that showed gold medals to events. I’m going from memory here but in 56 Melbourne it was 16/151 v Paris 18/345( but don’t quote me on the exact numbers).Therein lies the truth about “ best ever” etc.

It’s the velodrome events for me.
Only watch them every 4 years but they are fascinating.

They have no fear. It’s great to watch.

It’s the only sport in the world where breaks have been removed due to saftey so you have no choice - go faster.

They get up to 70km/h whilst rubbing shoulders on an inclined track of 45 degrees....They are absolute machines.

No one has mentioned that not only can they ride around that incline at speed but they can also stop and balance still on the bloody thing.

They can’t stop, the bikes have no breaks.

It’s why they do slow down laps on the inside & have people hold the bike to start. It’s a crazy cool sport.
