Parramatta fan site-Important stuff.

This has really got me a bit fired up. The parramatta fan site ONe Eyed eel admin/operator has had his football and leagues club membership suspended as the site had an image which the board considered offensive.
To give it context it was a picture with Roy Spagnolo using Eric grothe as a puppet. IMO that is definitely not defamtory.
Like every site there is a number of fans agreeing and disagreeing with actions of the board (much like ours), for and against various factions (like ours) all has been allowed to go on, as long as there is no defamation.
As they shold us fans are the stakeholders and our hard earned spent on games, membership, merchandise, pay tv and our patronage which is what advertisers are paying to sell to is what drives the game, fans have the right to voice our disaprovement.

Im not sure but i think the guy who runs the site, and has had his membership revoked is considering running for the board, which may explain the motivation of the board suspending his membership. Even if this is the case silencing the fans and banning a site from posting criticism of the current board is abhorrent to me and is a clear denial of freedom of speech and is attempting to control elections by controlling the information the fans read. This is unacceptable to em.

Even know it is not our club, I urge fans to protest this (there is a petition) as they are fans just like us and they deserve an unabated voice, if they get away with it, it may encourage other boards to behave similarly.

Definitely something to get angry about.

Definitely a shady move given the admin was about to run for the board, now he can't unless he bends to their will. Talk about an abuse of power. Spagbol needs to be turfed.

Seems defamatory to me. Not saying it was an over-reaction but it is defamatory to Eric Grothe I'd think. It does seem a bit of a stretch to revoke a membership on that basis though and more than a little arbitrary too.

Compare to the stuff said on here about say Tim Moltzen, Humphries, Ben Elias or TIm Sheens

all far worse

I think it is nothing short of disgraceful.

Imagine if Humpries threatened to take away the membership of the football and leagues club of the Admin if they refused to remove any criticism of him, that is essentially what has happened here.

I think it is terrible. I want to call someone and complain and it is not my club and I have no feelings (or knowledge) at all in relation to their board or election

I don't even get it, what does a pic of a two bit musician who played football on the side being a puppet for the chairman mean?

Grothe Jr is involved in the board elections on a ticket called Parra 4 ever (previously 3P). The picture is an insinuation that Spagbol is using Guru Jr as a puppet for his own gains.

Sorry I meant to say "Not saying it **wasn't** an over-reaction"

Bad typo to make - totally ballsed up my intent!

Hard to gauge without seeing the image.

A description from someone obviously leaning one way does tend to slant things

Still…..it doesnt sound good.

Didnt see that, my anti virus program warned of a dangerous page when clicking the link

OK found it elsewhere

I think the biggest problem with our management/board is not the people elected but rather the structure. Having the two factions Balmain and Wests turns our boardroom into a bickering mess akin to the Parliament right now.

Agree 2 board rooms bickering one team and fan base suffering.Go easy on Roy guys he is a real nice guy a gentleman who would help any one with anything if he could. He genuinely loves his club not there for the money can assure you of that.We need to fix our own problems I think we need a board with say 2 Wests 2 Balmain and 8 totally independent votes.Tradition can have a say but not hold the club back because of it!!!
