Pat Richards = Dud?

I am sorry but I dont buy into Richards being a bad buy.
Koribete, while runs the ball well lacks alot of skills required to make a success in the NRL.
Koribete is terrible under the high ball, has bad reads in defense often being sucked in and not staying on his man, and has no step what so ever. He is a hard fast powerful straight line runner. While he is a exciting player, he has a long way to go.
Bringing Keith and Pat in will give the younger outside backs experience they can tap into.
I reckon Koribete needs to work really hard on those poor areas of his game in order to demand he should be a first grade winger. Pat will help him in this regard. A year under Pat and Keith and you will see a different Koribete come middle to end of the year.

pat is not gonna be a superstar with us… neither is he gonna be a liability.

i have him pinned as the leading try scorer for us in 2014.

Sorry I think you have missed my point.
Richards has been bought for his experience and will help Koribete with wing play positioning.
I admit that Richards has looked quite poor in the WC but he has been outstanding in the SL this year and for the past few years and for that reason I think will do quite well next year for us.

On a side note - Koribete hasn't set the world on fire either in this WC. He is a million miles from being a consistent NRL player. He would lose us more games than he will win if his development does not improve.

Ah yes! Agreed. Our backline defence should improve whether we us Richards or Koroibete. Ayshford and Marshall had the worst pairing in defence (statistically) in the competition, by a long long way. Kidwell said defence will be his focus so fingers crossed.

Pat Richards will be good for the younger blokes in the back line.
he will give them confidence, and advice.
and of course hopefully keep up with them, or be close by when they make a break.

Look it is possible that the signing of Pat could go either way. But I'm of the thinking that he will shine in the squad we have. Don't think he would come back if he wasn't totally committed to performing to his best. Only time will tell I suppose.
