Pat Richards won't take birth certificate to Wests Tigers contract negotiations

Last year he started off like a house on fire, but as the grind of the season took its toll and injuries set in his form nose dived dramatically. I would be waiting to mid season before I even considered resigning him. In saying all of the above,he has everything all the very good wingers have except speed and you can get by without speed if you are smart

Patty will not leave the WT for another club!…

He is in superb form this year as he was last year until injuries hit him and the team...

If he continues his great injury free form then give him another year without question...the boys love having him in the team...and thats just as important as form...

There are two categories in today's game
Footballers and athletes
Patty is definitely a footballer
What he lacks in "speed" he makes up for in positional play, defensive reads, goal kicking, strong dummy half runs, best kickoff in the comp, huge touch finders, field goals and he can score a try…ranked second currently
But speed that's what we need because this is a track and field event yeah right haha

His contributions in the three games we've won have been significant!

To quote Barra "Gower actually had the start on Pat. Gower threw the wayward pass while facing back toward his own line, and was actually starting to hoof it in defence before Pat even grabbed the ball (3mins 30sec). When Pat did get the possession, Gower actually has about a 5m start and is already running.

So Pat did pretty good to almost get around him and a good kick away…"

If he is playing like he is now at the end of the season. I'd give him another year. But there is more than 20 games to get through first. Patty is a winner.

Yeah he's a winger for crying out loud and he played several years in the ESL - his body has hardly taken any punishment  He could probably play until he's 40!

Robbie is the same age, plays in the middle in a key position and has been in the NRL comp all his career - we should be marveling at the things he does every week, at his age.

Actually, Farah is 31 and Richards is 33 but your point is taken.

Patty wouldn't be costing us a arm or a leg. Another year contract isn't a big risk. I think he deserves to go out on his own terms.

Milky maaaaate
Not even sure if you deserve a response son

Not arguing he is slow arguing that speed is only one utensil in a lot of football tricks

As a winger pat ticks 9/10 boxes(and he's not that slow I've seen him make some breaks and with Simons as his centre and Tedesco as fullback I'm sure he can find a way to get them over the line…which he did to win us the game on Monday...crazy huh???)

Or would you rather a guy like uate who ticks probably 2/10 boxes but has speed

I feel people discriminate him because of his age on here… If he was 25 and playing the exact same then people wouldn't be chopping him.

Pat played a bit of fullback and centre while in the ESL Flip

Forwards do way more work, Happy

TOO SLOWa

Milky , if the body holds up for some players, the speed between the ears is just as , or sometimes more important .
And I can't remember too many players with more of that than Pat
I'd love to see him with another year.

No he didn't Milky, Gower was already running and actually had about a 5m start on him, and only managed to grab a handful of jersey to slow him.

Round 6.
Pat Richards is currently the NRL's 2nd leading try scorer and also the 2nd highest points scorer.
He is also on 4 Dally M points. 3 behind the 2 current leaders.
