Some on this forum have suggested Saukuru will be at the Eels in 2027?
It wouldn’t surprise if that is true as they need a left centre and were looking at Moses Suli at one stage.

Look forward to watching Saukuru and Kautaga destroy us on an edge in years to come...

Both have the physical profiles we lack and looks like both will leave because of a lack of opportunity.

The club has purchased Averillo to fill a centre position, ahead of Saukuru. Centre is a very difficult defensive position and I believe holding him back so he can work on his fitness before debuting is the correct decision. Debuting a young player into a team in difficulty is risky.

The only selection I disagree with in this team is continuing to pick Broederlow at right backrow. Mitch Taotua has much greater upside & performed better in Cup on the edge than Broederlow imo. Probably only getting the jersey ahead of him because he's an NRL Dev contract.

If Mitch Taotua is developed properly, he's a future NRL backrower imo & can be a lethal one.

Nick Meaney has signed with Perth Bears.
So the Eels only recognised centre for 2027 is currently Jordan Samrani with Will Penisini not yet signed anywhere.
I still think he (Penisini) would be a very god recruit for us as he is like a right sided version of Taylan May and Averillo could play on one wing when we are full strength and be great cover tj play in the centres or fullback if we have injuries.
In saying this Will Penisini is an Isaac Moses client, so that would probably prevent that from happening even if Penisini and Wests Tigers were interested.

If the club is getting any input from HGB directors maybe they want the magpies to make the finals , makes sense from their end so you need to keep that team fairly solid to keep winning , maybe Benji doesn’t have all the say maybe their is a message each week , nrl team screwed don’t screw magpies , anyways just a nasty thought on my side but if nrl side is out of the running I would stack the magpies where ever possible , not sure on rules but to play finals maybe you had to play X amount of games in cup to qualify , be interesting next few weeks especially if nrl team keeps loosing and magpies keep winning

Thought Penisini was told to look around as eels were not to keen.

I think if his client was made a good offer by WTs, our offer would be brought to his attention. Penisini imo would know a few of our players so it may be a matter of trusting in the opinion of the player.

Avarillo didn't sign to play wing. His preferred position is 5/8, however he is a very dangerous and fast centre and can play fullback. He is also a very good goal kicker. May played on the wing for the panthers and was highly regarded.
I would like to see Bula moved to the wing where his speed and jumping ability would be invaluable. A backline of- Attard/Averillo, Bula, Penisini/Averillo/May, May/Makasini, Latu and Andrews would go ok.

1 million dollar winger ? Hahaha yea ok . You do realise the Bula you are watching right now is busted right ? Can’t lift his arm past 90 degrees . He will 100 be at st Vincent’s private hospital surgery by November this year.
