I think Tim Sheens has done an outstanding job at the Tigers this year given the squad he's had available. He has taken them to the cusp of the Eight and I don't think he gets enough credit for what he's acheived. When you consider the players at his disposal - NSW State Of Origin Hooker, Robbie Farah; NZ National Captain Benji Marhsall; English internationals Chris Heighington & Gareth Ellis, Tim Moltzen, Chris Lawrence, Keith Galloway, Adam Blair - you soon realise what he has been up against.
Don't forget he's only had some of these players under his wing for 7 or 8 years and so we shouldn't expect miracles. Rome wasn't built in a day… We need to be patient and give Sheens enough rope so that he can mould this squad into a real team and instill a professional, winning culture at the club - just like he did at the Cowboys. Lets not forget - Sheensy had previously had wooden spoons at the Cowboys (1997 + 2000) but he turned that football program around & departed Townsville on a high note following a 13th placing (out of 14) in 2001\. It was a remarkable acheivement after only 5 years at the club.
Success does not happen overnight - they take time - and I am sure that by 2020 Sheens will have the Tigers club firing on all cylinders. After all, as a young coach, Sheens is still learning himself and I am confident he will improve on his 41.8% success rate of the last 16 years (1997 - 2012).
