Id love to see Brissy get done for rorting.

Knowing Q's,they would spit the dummy and make their own comp as they felt they were being mistreated by the demons from south of the border.

It would be a super comp, absent of rubbish Sydney teams like the Tigers, and would be like playing a semi every weekend with uber teams like Perth, the Hunter and Adelaide.

Ohhhhhh hang on…......

SUPER idea Simon.

This just proves that the salary cap isn't working. It's purpose is to even out the comp. If teams can legally find ways around it (like Brisbane with the Thoroughbreds and Easts with Politis) it's pretty well useless. There must be a better way. Unfortunately I'm not smart enough to come up with it!!

& then come the sydney clubs fighting each other for the scraps..

This is what the Sydney Clubs want though… They have no vision for relocation, no interest in merged indentities, and are full of 'Old School Boys Clubs'...

There is plenty of Corporate Dollars out there!!!

OH My….....

No vision for re-location....As opposed to the Brisbane Broncos,,,,,, the One state team......

Who whenever is threated with another 1 measly team cries foul cause it doesn't fit Ribot's Supervision,,,good to see some posters have memories.....

Here is a good example of the Bronco system good ole Ben T'eo reminded me last night when he mentioned Jordan Kahu..Let the Wests Tigers develop a jnr then offer his Dad a job pickung up glasses at some hotel....next thing ya know bang....Kahu...BABY BRONCO..... :unamused:

It has very little to do with the players. This post is soley based around private enterprise re-investing into the well being of the clubs future.

Brisbane don't need to find any new revenue earning markets. They are secured for many years. They have an average of 8M more income each year, compared to the Sydney Western sector Clubs. Being a 1 town club / business helps, but it shouldn't be used as an excuse for having a market saturated with 8 Competitors… :brick:

Either way, this is a different debate....

( and you think I have an agenda  )

Investing in the players is what this debate is really about though.
Kent made a good point last night and I for one hope Brisbane at least try to respond. Webcke's entire defense was based on trust me I know the Broncos and we don't pull stuff like that.

The Broncos benefit greatly from being a one team town and as Geo points out jump up and down the minute a second side gets mentioned. Their talent pool is larger than most and their backers have a stack of money always has been the case.

I'm in the Hotel/Restaurant Industry and I jump and down whenever a new Liquor License is granted in my backyard also… Once I get over it, I then go down the path to ensure they go broke and close thier doors!!!

The reason the NRL havnt put a second team into Brisbane is they know it wont survive (The NRL doesnt want a failed Franchise on its hands), and the comfortable fact News Ltd own 68.5% of the Brisbane Broncos Ltd.

I personally hate the Broncos, but I truely admire thier Business Structure...

Fair point about protecting your own interests but would a second team fail? I hate the Broncos too but living in Brisbane means I get to a few games and one thing that always stands out to me is how many non-Broncos supporters live in Brisbane (maybe this is because they haven't been around as long as other clubs or maybe this is because there isn't a lot to like about them?) For instance when the Tigers played recently at Suncorp I swore I was at a Tigers home game.

I don't think there is plenty of corporate dollars out there. Not for all the Sydney clubs. I know of some one that works in marketing and a few years ago he tried to get famous A -league import player boot sponsorship money, he was not offered any cash from anyone and was lucky to get the guy free boots.

But seriously if we had a 40,000 -50,000 state of the art ground built for by the government leased to us on great terms and had the whole Sydney market to ourselves we would be rolling in cash.

The Brisbane market needs a second team. If not there has to be a cap on the amount of money sponsors from outside the club can provide.

What we need also is a draft and junior structure like the AFL. Players play in an under 18 competition for regions, the money for this competition comes from the AFL but none of these players are affiliated with any one AFL team. They then all go into the draft and the team that come last has the first pick.

Fine with me. We should have never let them into the NSWRL to begin with.

Well you can't blame clubs for not wanting to relocate or merge.

The NSWRL requested Brisbane to join the competition as the BRL was gaining momentum on the back of successful Origin campaigns. There biggest concern was the introduction of Gaming Machines into Qld allowing the BRL to gain further momentum, finally with good financial support. Gaming Revenue was the only difference between Qld Clubs & NSW Clubs. Brisbanes entrace into the NSWRL achieved the perfect result for the NSWRL to grow outside of its borders and to start attracting potential revenue from new markets. Without this growth, the NSWRL could possibly still be on the ABC every Saturday, and the BRL could be the Premier Rugby League Competition in Australia played on FOX Sports…
