It's hard to say exactly what he is missing to take the next step up, If anything I'd say it's maybe urgency...
TBH - Outside Gareth Ellis, I don't think we've ever had a standout back rower - Plenty of toilers, Who went over and above every week, A few kids that could have been anything (For one reason or another weren't) and plenty of Guys who are loved and rated by the fans - But that's about it.
It's never been any different and seems to filter through both senior grades.
There are a few brighter prospects in the 20's, Hopefully this next crop finally delivers.
Pretty much agree… Outside of Ellis we have always lacked a standout backrower.
I reckon Lawrence might make the jump in class with another year there and I get a good feeling about Bailey Sironen's energy & skill-set.
Payten ,Laffranchi ,O'Donnell ,Ben Galea, Liam Fulton ,Dwyer don't cut it lads ??
add in Tyran Smith, Mark O'Neil and Terry Hill (who was great in the backrow for us) from the early days.
Bayley Sironen is going great. The move to the backrow has been great for him, last year he really kicked on, I had massive doubts. I always knew he'd be a fan favourite, has a massive crack, fans love that, but it was he is incisive running lines that took me by surprise, looked good last year.
He'll have to keep improving, but he could be a handy first grader.
On backrowers, there is a kid at the Roosters, played in the 9's, Nat Butcher, I think he is a superstar in the making. I hate making these comparisons, but reminds me of Ben Kennedy.
What are we waiting for Xmas
If he is half as good as Ben Kennedy you'd snap him up in a heartbeat
Probably got 2 TPA's and on 500 k a season at the Roosters
