I have been told Ivan Cleary gave him a role to work with the ISP squad and report back to Cleary of who he thought was worthy of NRL selection.

It was also going to be Stringers job to manage the dropped players and their wellbeing, to which there was a heated argument and lead to his resignation.

Sounds like a pretty decent position.
Why did he knock it back?

He want's to work with the NRL squad.

If that is the reason why he spat the dummy and left then good riddance. We desperately need to weed out the petulant quitters in our club from the top down. So look forward to the day when we are a hard-nosed, ruthless organisation…..then the sparkling results will come. Cannot wait. Go Ivan, run the broom through our soft club.
