PAYTEN TO MISS FOUNDATION CUP
By Wayne Cousins
Friday, 19 February 2010
Wests Tigers prop Todd Payten has been ruled out of the fourth annual Foundation Cup match on Sunday, February 21.

Payten suffered a calf injury at training this week. Coach Tim Sheens will name a replacement for Payten after the final training session tomorrow.

Prop Bryce Gibbs will miss the Foundation Cup by serving a one match suspension following the Bulldogs game in round 26 last year.

Sheens has named a strong line-up for the Foundation Cup clash which the Wests Tigers will be looking to win for the first time. The Roosters have won the past three Foundation Cup matches at the Sydney Football Stadium.

New Wests Tigers signings Mitch Brown, Jason Cayless, Junior Moors, Mark Flanagan and Geoff Daniela have been named in the team along with Liam Fulton and Daniel Fitzhenry, back at the club following stints in England.

The Foundation Cup is the only trial match in Sydney for both teams prior to next month’s season kick-off.

Nooooo what a blow….....

Payto out.........season Over.....

He'll never get over his injuries given the Wests Tigers Medical staff.... :unamused:

Gibbs serves his suspension is an upside.......Cuzzo should check his facts...Gibbs is serving suspension for tapping Bert on the backside againt Parra.....

Bad news for Payten, but being a trial i think its good news for the Tigers. We know what Payten can do, and this will give the likes of Shirnack and Moors more game time to show us what they got.

exactly - it will give others a chance to impress. but im sick of losing foundation cups each year for the last 3\. payten would of been good.

As you say, it will give others a chance to impress. Wonder if A Fifita might get a call up now…And does anyone know if Simon Dwyer is injured?

he'll back for round one.this is just a precaution. but in another thread our medical team aint so good according to some so time will tell.
