Will surprise more than disappoint this year? Maybe as supporters we are not used to see the team progress each week. That the dream may finally be turning into a reality.
And this is understandable, given the number of times we've had our hopes crashed. The number of posts at half time being pessimistic about our chances against the Raiders were a stark reminder of this.
But you know what? I for one, going back to 2005 and well before then, haven't experienced this sense of anticipation in watching a game, in seeing a team that I think can finally start to match it with the heavyweights of this comp.
Of course, it would be naive to think that we've turned the corner. That Benji has found the holy grail, and he is the new Messiah. Step by step though, the team is learning; we are building are starting to believe. It may just be the fairy tale this competition needs. Who knows. Time will tell.
But for now, black and gold is raising from the ashes.
