Perhaps what sums up the night

Was Benji(?) playing the ball with 3-4 minutes to go, in the gummies 40, and at dummy half Robbie looking somewhere else - not only did the gummies marker dive and got the ball but he also then received a penalty for a 1-1 strip by Robbie…

Yes, interesting. I was listening to ABC Grandstand and I certainly did not understand the penalty. Was he called held or something?

Don't know - does anyone, with refs decisions??

The Shark player was ruled to have been tackled as soon as Robbie laid a hand on him. As such the strip was after the tackle was completed, even though it was one on one.

If Robbie had have been watching the play the ball it would never have been a problem.

No doubt Robbie was lazy on that play but it was never a penalty. Farah never tackled him. It was a geunine contest for the ball and Farah ripped it out of his hands.

Rubbish decision (like many last night). The one problem with this game is how much influence refs can have on a game.

Agree on both counts Southern; it was not a penalty and the refs play a big part in deciding games these days.

That was a weird play and strange call to boot.
It was J-Mo who dived through on the ball. Did anyone else notice how many times he personally caught Robbie with the ball? Seemed he was hunting him all over the park. Was a good little battle.

That's how I saw it as well. The Sharks player (Morris?) never had clean possession - it was a contested ball and Farah had it. As you said typical of a bizarre night of refereeing decisions both on and off the field…
