Peter V’landys

If Beattie was still in control, there probably wouldn't be a game. Thank god for PV!

The story I heard was that Beattie actually stood aside so that V'landys could take over to get this done (including punting Greenberg). If true, much respect to Beattie.

I think the deal was good, the NRL doesn't lose out too much over the next couple of years. Just wanted a deal to get it over this hump.

Think V'Landys wanted 2022 onwards free of a FTA contract.

Don't think 9 will get it ongoing if there is a FTA contract struck. Think he has an alternative in mind.

C9 didn't want to extend but V'landy's did.

I agree with the sentiment that time will tell with PVL, but he has a very solid track record in racing and he's made many correct moves with rugba league so far.

In fact this is arguably the most challenging time for any sport and PVL has dominated the landscape - barely heard a peep from that fairy Gillon McLachlan, who now is basically reading from PVL's playbook.

Long-term PVL might get people offside, because they are all happy for the revenues to be flowing again, but eventually the self-interested parties within rugba league manoeuvre to challenge headstrong leaders.

What I do like about PVL specifically is that he is decisive. He says he will do something and it happens, none of this vague BS and management speak. I think cutting through the BS is the best way to bring the clubs into the fold.

Hello everyone I am a new poster. I have known Peter V'landys for about 40 years. He was captain of our cricket team and was also my tax agent. He was a good captain but was a terrible tax agent. He left me with major problems with the taxation department when he went to the NSW trots. He made no attempt to help me out. Therefore I am vary wary of his business acumen.
I reluctantly admit he has done a good job so far but I worry what other decisions he will make as don't forget this is the person who wanted to move the Melbourne Cup from it's traditional date to improve Sydney Racing (never going to happen).
Hope I am wrong

Thanks for posting mate.
We'll see how he goes. He seems so far to be doing better than Greenburg, but yes, jury is definitely out.

I don't like Greenburg but it is unfair to compare him to V'landys as they were in 2 different roles.

i think chanel 7 will take league and racing nsw e.g. Sydney racing in a super package deal then 7 will have vic and nsw racing and nrl and afl they will broadcast on 7 mate and 7 two etc

Peter V'landys has said CH7 is too invested into AFL, wont work having NRL as well.

That's just A-Class trolling of the VRC, of course the Melbourne Cup won't move. But it got all their backs up and generated publicity for his Everest. I can't criticise anyone who takes a bit of pleasure in winding up Victorians, sensitive little bunch they can be.

I know the Glebe Hockey Club is still highly aggrieved that Harold Park contravened a lease agreement they had to build a synthetic pitch in the middle of Harold Park raceway. PVL was the Trots head back then and the Hockey Club still generally dislikes him. I got the impression, not being invested in the outcome myself, that PVL was a bit of a bastard, and the part that really mattered was whether he was YOUR bastard or THEIRS.

Got to give another big "up" to PVL, projecting crowds returning by 01/Jul/20 and the NSW government has confirmed today this will be permitted.

Looks like up to 10,000 until August, which for Manly and Easts is full capacity.

Easts will still only half fill home games.
