I agree, I think Gus is a wise and measured football commentator, but he has always has an angle of self-interest since joining the Panthers.

Draft systems only work when the player is getting paid so much money he doesn't care where he is forced to relocate to. A kid on 100 k still needs to be near family/friends to survive, RL players already get paid peanuts for the risks they take, to add a draft as well would be too much, the whole system is too old school, backward and tight to support a draft.
