Phil Gould

Yeah saw that as well Gary That was my point in another thread The referees weren't good again last night either

Someone is going to lose a GF because our referees just aren't up to it

The problem with refereeing is they don't know their roles. This is how I'd fix it.
1/ touch judges. - call forward passes and watch line only. Only come in if dominant ref asks for them.
2/ 2nd referee - sets ten metres only. Only comes in if dominant ref asks for him.
3/ Dominant referee makes all other rulings. Does not rule on touch or 2nd refs roles.
4/ video ref - have 3 man panel sitting separately to each other, with no communications with each other. All make their decisions, majority rules shows on the big screen. ( should be used in all big games)

By having these roles, everyone knows their jobs. They can be held accountable and it would be easier to fix problems by knowing who to get rid of.

Am I imagining it, or did Phil Gould claim after Queensland scored its first try that Cronk had just kicked an “uncatchable” bomb? In other words, the fault was not with Uate for allowing the ball to bounce. We should, instead, praise Cronk’s skill ball in producing an “uncatchable” bomb. I must say that that was not the way I saw it - I got the impression that if Uate took one step forward, the ball would have bounced off his head. The ball seemed eminently catchable.

On reflection, Gould’s comments seem so absurd, that I am now wondering if heard him correctly.

Yeah he did say something like that. Given that Uate refused to even attempt to catch the ball means we'll never know if Gus was correct on the uncatchable nature of the kick. I
t looked like that some attempt at making a catch was possible especially for an NRL standard player… But every Blues mistake apparently was just evidence of the awesomeness of the Maroons machine, like them scoring a try on half time was an inevitable force and not the result of a winger's incompetence.

If we had one different winger, NSW would be leading 2-0.

…and if Tate holds on to that bomb, QLD win the series.

These two sides are pretty evenly matched so far. Jennings sin bin helped the Maroons, Cronks sin bin helped the Blues. Thats pretty much all that was in both games...with the one exception. Several QLDers havent fired to their usual, proven standards this series yet. A betting man would suggest they will in Brisbane. As good as game 2 was, I think game 3 will top it. NSW are desperate beyond belief to win a series. Their aggreive attitude to their defence has been superb. QLD dont want to hand over the trophy that has been rightfully theirs for 6 years on their home turf. They will be playing for Artie and Petro.

Should - be - a - cracker!!!
