Pies : Where do you buy your favourite and what is it

lol @ super market pies.
invest in a pie maker, they're cheap.
make your own pies, put whatever you want in them.

trust me, best pies you'll ever taste.

I made a cracking Beef & Guinness pie last week. The key was searing the diced Garvey beef first. I put the raw small chucks into a plastic bag with a small amount of flour and shook it until they were all dusted with flour then seared it and chucked some onion in as well. Once it’s all seared add some stock and greated zucchini or an other veg. Start slow cooking it in a pot and add a bottle of stout.

The Humble Pie shop at The Entrance, always stop in after a bit of a fishing session. Curry Beef with big chunks of steak…bliss

Fishing, and importantly it's success, is a science that falls prey to the whims of many factors. Tides, bait, moon, gear, etc, etc, etc, etc.
The success in a pie shop revolves around you having $6.50 in your pocket.
So, going down the road for a pie is a much greater chance of succeeding. Fisherman's excuse #126
And yes . . . . fresh fish are yum. Especially the humble whiting and flathead. Skinless, boneless fillets. Mmmmmm.

Well the Travellers Inn where you get the favoured pies of mine , you go fishing and you miss out on your favoured pie

Love whiting and flathead , favourite however is red throat emperor and Spanish Mackerel

Happy, if I could catch red throat and Spaniards in my local river here in Sydney, I'd be into them quick smart !!!!
It's hard work bragging to a qlder about just how honourable it is to catch 47cm whiting.
You guys are spoilt. Enjoy !!!!

Not for a while now, they’ve dredged the mess out of the lakes, however off the beach it’s still happy days somewhat…but the drive for the pie well worth it ?

Yes know the feeling , they dredged our Harbour about 6 years ago along with all the heavy metals that were sitting on the bottom

Goodbye Live coral trout industry , mud crabs and prawning and we get a gas plant in return

Anyway getting off subject , wish I was tucking into a scallop and chorizo pie from the Travellers Inn at Gin Gin right now

there is a footie crazy fan who turns up at woollies almost every morning and wears odd socks every time - the team socks of two NRL teams who are playing that day or whatever. He is sour because cannot purchase I think it is Cowboy socks because they are owned by Toyoto or something like that. He is about 75-80 years old and a roosters fan and as friendly as hell.

So he eats sock pies? That is what this thread is about. Do you happen to see this "crazy sock guy" in the mirror every morning BBF?

He must be looking in the produce cabinet mirrors at the Woolies.

Yeah I know..I think BBF was drinking the bong water again playing with a sock puppet…

have your laughs but has anyone everyone ever seen such a keen fan that has the socks of about 16 teams and religiously wears them on whatever teams are playing? I wonder what he does when there are a few games on the one day.

20 minutes north of the Gold Coast - Yatala Pie Shop - middle of an industrial area near Beenleigh (Lock your cars, lads!) but it's pretty amazing.

http://www.yatalapies.com.au/

and when I was in NSW - Robertson Pie shop - great place to stop if you are doing a drive to the Southern Highlands.

https://plus.google.com/108511287595289374214/about?gl=au&hl=en

Both of them are absolutely off the hook.

Enjoyed many a Robertson pie and they are brilliant.

The Mrs and kids were at Yatala pie shop today but I was working so missed out unfortunately.

I'd throw another in Denmark Bakery in South West WA. They're freakin delicious too.

Uncle Tom's pies on the Old Pacific hyway outside Mullumbimby is an old favourite. Have a few fancy Asian types as well as Aussie classics. But there apple pies are at least one inch deep plus an inch of cream on top with terrific pastry, also apricot fill.

I'll back up Yatala Pies, their curry chicken is absolutely delicious.
Another little gem if you ever find yourself in the little country town of Fernvale, 20 minute drive from Ipswich, is Fernvale Bakery. Not only are their pies fantastic but they have a huge range of other sweets and savouries. Can't go wrong.
Also… Beefy's do a great pie! Steak, bacon and cheese. And if you get a meal deal, they have the biggest serve of chips so it's really good value for money.
