Corey Harawira-Naera and Jayden Okunbor stood down by Bulldogs after each was issued a show cause notice by the NRL as to why they shouldn’t face further disciplinary action for alleged breaches of the Game’s Code of Conduct.

Bulldogs forum would be on a meltdown faster than the Chernobyl reactor

Lol,
And the ball rebounds off one of the advertising boards and snaps back hitting Matterson in the head, knocking him stone cold out.

Best season start (in an Eels Dogs game) ever.

High school, well I think we'll hear more about this one. Let's see how long it takes for someone from our forum to go off about this without knowing any more information, without knowing what happened.

Let's just be cool, and not jump the gun.

Reports suggest they have been asked to explain why they should not be deregistered. Though not illegal, it's a seriously bad look. They were likely there on promotional duties - coaching clinics and such - so they would have used their position to organise the situation.

Doesn't change the fact that they are still school students that were allegedly met during a school visit. That's extremely inappropriate behaviour, completely unprofessional and a poor representation of the NRL and the Bulldogs. Over 18 or not that's irrelevant, they're still high school students.

100% Fraze. Totally unacceptable behaviour and poor use of power given the situation.

You don’t see anything wrong with players who are on club/nrl duties picking up school girls at a school clinic whilst on the clock?

I'd say if a tradie on school site doing a job was found chatting up 17 year olds they wouldn't be used again.

Are we seriously discussing the age of consent as though this is the issue or as though it is a valid excuse? The issue is NRL players thinking a community engagement event in a school is an appropriate time or place to attempt to pick up STUDENTS.

As a teacher I'm disgusted by this. A school is meant to be a safe environment. And regardless of how willing they may have been, or the age of the students the behaviour is completely inappropriate given the setting of the situation.

We have people come into our school all the time to give presentations or to run particular events and to coach sports teams and if one of these professionals were to conduct themselves in the same manner and engage in the same activities that the players did, I doubt the response would be ''Well she was over 16.''

If the context was different and the players had of met the girls in a local bar or a night club the narrative would be very different and I doubt we'd be having this conversation. However, as it is being reported that the initial interaction occurred within a school, I can't cop hearing about the age of consent as an excuse or as validation of these actions.

I'm honestly bewildered by the response on here that just because the girls were over the age of consent that it makes the actions of these players acceptable.

Who’s saying the players picked them up at the school? The players had high school girls in the room, but they could have been groupies chasing the players while underage drinking in a pub.

If the players knew they were school kids, regardless of age of consent, what the players did was wrong and worryingly stupid
