I don't know if the judge made the right or wrong decision.Upon learning his fate, the former NRL player was sentenced to three years' imprisonment but was granted immediate parole and ordered to pay $5,000 in compensation to the woman within six months.
Granted immediate parole, seriously? What’s the point of having a court case if they’re just going to let them go all the time?
But in Seymour's favour he did plead guilty and had no previous criminal history.
He apparently showed genuine remorse and voluntarily attended a rehab. course.
There's no excuse for domestic 'violence' and it happens to often.
Do we 'really' know what caused him to engage in d/v? I am pretty certain women can frequently be the cause by constantly abusing and ridiculing.
Imo, jailing people often teaches them to be worse when they are released.
From what we hear and see, prisoners are not treated nicely overall.
If the offence is bad enough, definitely lock them up...to deprive them of their liberty and comforts of everyday life., but don't treat them like garbage, except for people like Ivan Milat of course.
I watched a bit on the ABC recently about prisons and the inmates in Finland from memory, where the prisoners are treated well in all ways, and the recidivist rate is 'much' lower than any other country because of that.
If we treat others with RESPECT, they will generally treat us the same way in return.
