Player fire sale just weeks away

The bargains available in the fire sale won't be in any marquee players being offloaded and subsidised. It will be the new talent coming through that clubs can't afford to fit in their cap. Like the eisenhooths and the twals.
Seems like Ivan's already onto that.

That is how it should be. We need to identify the best of the young talent, especially young backs with genuine pace, on the cusp of the NRL. Let them grow into our young team, not grow out of it at the back end of careers.

No more young Talent. We picked the "Young" Brooks, Moses and Tedesco and they struggled to understand their roles without strong mentors.

James Graham for $400,000 I would say Yes. He brings a fair bit of experience and pride to the sides he plays. 500k, Hmm I would have to think about it, I would not pay more then 500K because of his injuries.

The sharks are playing with 36, 34 and 32 year old forwards and doing well with it. I would not rule people out because they are of that age. In fact I don't think anyone would object that we should have kept Chris H.

Twal, Marsters, Suli, Eisenhuth et al have been good for us. We don't want a retirement home and we have enough experience. Bring on the young stars.

Well I object - two ball Heino, one for him and one for the rest of the team ….no thanks, was quite happy that he left us when he did, bad luck it wasn't earlier.

I agree. League is a game where players can get old and slow really quickly. It's a massive risk picking up players like this and they often expect top dollars as well.

I explained in the above post.

Yep, sounds like the player agents have had their wicked way and the players association have bent over and done exactly what the agents told them to do. No wonder dibb was;t upset after the clubs all agreed to 9.4\. He knew it was never going to get agreed to.

I posted a while ago some clubs were going to use the RLPA. This will backfire dramatically on the players. Fans will switch off as the deal is more than fair.

Reading the play in twitter land reckons woods has asked his agent to see if he can get out of contract with the dogs. I don't follow twitter that much, so not sure how reliable. Western sydney sport also mentioned it.

Woods will be a Dog 100%

Or he is a dog?

Anyway, I think so too, regardless of whether woods is better than graham or vice versa, they definitely have a player in woods who will play for three+ years, if they keep graham it is for one and then they have to look for another so plan 1 for them would be offload graham and keep woods. IMHO

Haven't a clue what that means. Why should he have left earlier? He was a great forward for us and is still a warrior for the sharks. Pity more didn't play with the desire and purpose he displays every time he takes the field

Yeh he was no good, played over 300 games, and over 100 at cronulla since he left, and won a premiership making it 2 now, what a dud.

That's true. A couple of years ago he was passing at the line and also offloading at will. Des now just has him playing as a battering ram like all the other forwards. It wasn't that long ago the Canterbury forwards were unstoppable with their short passing game.

Looks like he has signed with the Dragons, according to MMM.

Great news for our club.

I'm curious to see how this goes. Now clubs are making inquiries about getting Graham, other clubs will panic and put in bigger offers. Advantage Bulldogs.

Good luck to him. Deserved better from a club he has given 100% on and off the field.
