So taking a look through the top contracted players on the Tigers website, it looks like player weights have been updated. Still a few guys missing photos, but I've noticed a few changes from last year's playing weights…since I like typing, read on...

Suli is going to be a if boy when he grows up.

He will indeed, however he's also been hampered by the stress fractures and hasn't got the miles in his legs like the rest of the squad so his fitness levels aren't going to be as high.

Twal sounds like he's put on 1-2kgs, was a bit light last year and was told to bulk up. Gamble's pretty big. Bigger than i thought. I wonder if our backs losing weight is an attempt to help them increase pace?

Glad the Hooth has bulked up, big lad but looked a tad thin last year.

Not sure where Kevvy has lost weight, the bloke looks like a condom full of walnuts, not an ounce of fat on him.

Jesus Packer will hurt some people (legally,) this year.

If players were ranked on physique, Kev would be up there. Bonus points for the hair.

Walnuts haha

Just for fun, it's interesting to compare the modern player weights to the times when the game was semi professional. The following are from the Balmain 1981 squad.

Forwards

David Grant 188cm 96 kg
Neil Whittaker 178 cm 77 kg
Neil Pringle 181 cm 91 kg
Gary Spears 180 cm 94 kg
Ron Pilon 185 cm 85 kg
Ian Thompson 186 cm 96 kg
Wayne Pearce 180 cm 86 kg

Backs

Alan McMahon 186 cm 92 kg
Larry Corowa 178 cm 78 kg
Wayne Miranda 185 cm 90 kg
Olsen Filipaina 175 cm 88 kg
Wayne Wigham 191 cm 92 kg
Mal Creevey 168 cm 68 kg
Percey Knight 178 cm 83 kg

Tigers ran last in a 12 team comp with Frank Stanton as coach.
