Players spread anti-bullying message

Wests Tigers players have spent the past two days spreading the important message of anti-bullying as part of the Club’s annual Community Carnival.
Following Sunday’s very successful Come and Try Rugby League clinic in Mittagong, the players spent Monday visiting 13 schools across the Southern Highlands spreading key messages about anti-bullying, junior rugby league registrations and Wests Tigers Membership.
An overnight stay in Campbelltown saw the NRL squad, minus All Stars rep players in Benji Marshall and Robbie Farah, spread the same message across 40 primary and high schools in the Campbelltown and Liverpool regions.
The players will again be split in groups next Monday to visit more than 30 schools for the annual Wests Tigers Blitz in the Balmain region.
Full-back James Tedesco, who played his junior football in the Western Suburbs competition, said it was great to visit the schools again in his home town. He added the NRL DVD on anti-bullying certainly grabbed the attention of students.
“It seems like yesterday that I was in high school myself, I can very clearly remember the challenges that school kids face,” Tedesco said.
“Bullying is one of the most difficult issues in the classroom today so it was good to meet the students face-to-face and discuss how to tackle this problem and boost their self-esteem.”
