Could not have Mayer told Robbie to pull his head in then… after all he's the boss ... if it is how you say Jerry that Robbie has the power then it's pretty weak leadership on Mayer's behalf

Note in the Peter Badel article about A Griffin coming to WT he quotes Mayer as saying, "severing ties with Potter, **who has endured a strained relationship with star hooker Robbie Farah,** was an agonising call." He is clearly laying the responsibility for this at the feet of Robbie Farah.
It will be interesting to see what Robbie's response will be. No hiding from this one.

Right now the fans and members are upset and don't fully understand how and why they got to this position !!! Horror- did they pull up stumps for the last five matches before Cronulla? To a humble supporter it certainly looked that way. If so, maybe this ongoing drama still has a long way to go and with very serious penalties to those who may be involved. Somebody in club management needs to fleece it all out irrespective of the ramifications..
Well mr Mayer
We wanna know !!!!

I think we are all grown up to realise the line from both Farah and Potter that Farah and Potter played tennis and shared a coffee regularly was BS….
Recall Robbie seeking assurances from Humpty/Sheens a few years back that the club guarantee it will chase marquee players?
There is no doubt Farah was behind the push to oust Sheenius
There is no doubt Farah didn't and does not rate Potter
There can be no doubt Farah squealed to either directly or indirectly to the Board regarding Potter...
Mayer simply wants to put Farah in his place...Robbie's ego is only just smaller than his $900k paycheque....we all know this...and I for one applaud his tact in handling Farah...Robbie should just worry about playing football only...i**nstead Robbie wants to run the whole joint**...not on and if someone wants to put Farah in his place he has my support!
@Tigersmurf said:Potter had to go, and the reasoning behind it or pointing the bone at all parties involved in the reasoning behind it doesn't matter. The way the media played the situation out meant that Potter could not be maintained in that role.
Mayer's job is to be the politician, the used car salesman. He is the pointy end of the ship, he is responsible for bringing money into the club, monitoring expenditure, satisfying the NRL. All these responsibilities require a gamesmanship face irrespective of what is really going on behind the scenes.
Some on here want to hang the bloke for doing his job. He has many qualities that are beneficial to the club. Sure, decisions were made that he prbably would not make again, but he is trying to rectify these issues and strengthen the club.
Potter didn't deserve to go, but he couldn't stay either. That is business.

TS usually agree with a lot of what you say
But when you say Mayer's job is to be the politician , the used car salesman
Only the hopeless CEO's need to be seen in this light
Most of the other NRL CEO's aren't seen this way
If they are bringing Griffin , I hope the next step is to bring Paul White (they are best mates )
Then we will see what an actual good CEO can do

I get what you are saying happy, and I may not have worded my post very well.
My point was that being CEO can be a dirty job, and that you have to look at the entire picture and not just part of it before deciding whether Mayer is succeeding. Look at Penn with Watmough at Manly, or Noyce at the Sharks, they can be made to look very bad but that doesn't mean that overall they are doing a bad job.
Mayer has to make it look like the joint is under control and chugging along, no matter how bad things are. He does not keep a low profile, and that is probably why he cops a lot of criticism. I do think he has the best interests of the club at heart.
But I agree with you…lets see where we go from here....

well if his job is to make the joint look like its under control why did he do a marcel marceau because when the s*** hit the fan he was struck deaf and dumb ,the only time he said something was when farah had a go at him over the cut video he is all B/S

So its the fireman's fault and not the pyromaniac's? Maybe we should lock up all the firemen in the world and it would be a safer place.

Not saying it's his fault - as CEO it's part of his job to front up and settle things down ASP. No matter who started the c..p. That's what he gets paid to do.
