Plodders have to go

A wake up call in the forward ranks has to come from tommorows team list …it is time to sort this situation out ..the lethargic and non effort of many forwards has to be addressed . I could not care less if a few from the boys comp were promoted there has to be a message step up or your gone! And please I do not want to see Sironens words of wisdom this week in the media highlights released by the club ..he would be the first to be playing reggies this week, had a full off season and is producing nothing.

Yep. Big Keith, lawrence and Sironen need to perform or be introduced to park footy. Have a serious look at the stats for Curtis and he is not performing at the level required. Does not carry the weight he is required to do. As snake says, a full off season and now has a fair bit of top level footy under his belt. No excuses anymore. Plenty of other talent that will develop in time such as Brooks, Moses, Nofo, Teddy, Hoeter, Sue and Ava. Build a team around them and Woods and Robbie but don't persevere with the plodders. I still have nightmares as to why we kept running Anasta last year and had Austin sitting on the bench or in NSW cup.

Is it Sironen's fault that he has been advised to only run in a 15m channel on the field and not go looking for the ball elsewhere?

During City Country Fitler have him more freedom and he looked better.

Sironen is an easy issue

He can't handle the minutes , simple as that

So why is he playing those minutes?

You don't get a motor overnight TITG

My issue is I'd rather we try and build up Sue's motor , not Sirro's

Sirro is an impact player , that's why I keep suggesting he plays off the bench

Agreed, takes time to build these things.

I wouldnt be against him playing off the bench. Anything that is seeing a problem, making changes and addressing them. Not just the same old crap each week.

I guess Taylor is still searching for the right mix , he doesn't have a massive well to go to

One good thing when we had both Balmain and Wests in reggies , it gave you a chance to have a bigger choice of players to chose from

Pity we couldn't afford it though

Who are the plodders ?

I think Richards and Lawrence are the biggest plodders that we have. I'm inclined to give Siro some more time.

I'll tell you who I think is a plodder…Matt Lodge. The guy was a powder puff yesterday. He has a big frame, but he runs sideways and doesn't get over the advantage line. He came on at a time that we needed to forward and there was none.

I still don't think Ava provides enough meters for a big man either.

heres my list of plodders who need to be sent packing at seasons end.

naigama - solid player for NSW cup but just does not cut NRL standard.
richards - one of my favs but father time has over taken him time to go.
lawrence - a real fav, but that injury has cut his career short.
galloway - started the season running harder than the seasons before, now back to same crap.
lovett - again a solid NSW cup player not up to NRL standards.
sironen - has had much written about how good he will be, but does nothing does not bend the line and defence average, will never match his old man, another NSW cup player.
ava - tries hard but just never gets there, for his size he should be playing like MOA FROM ROOSTERS.
dene - has been a great player but like richards old father time has got him, time to go.

untill we get rid of the dead wood we could be coached by the top 3 coaches and the results would still be the same. how do we buy players with out a salry cap to spend , well the brings us to the point did we spend to much on the kids who have realy done nothing and without support in new signing will continue to produce nothing. if we had kept players like austin, bodene and picked up players like penrith did we may have been better of. BUT NONE OF US NOW HOW BAD THE CRAP IS SO ITS HARD TO KNOW.
just my thoughts .

I agree with your assessment on those players. THeir just not providing enough impact compared to other teams.

BP I agree with you that most on your list are plodders but aren't most of them also signed up with WT contracts for years in the future? That is what I think is the crux of WT's Crap situation.

NEWTOWN theres the problem half i think are signed others are out of contract, but we are looking to extent there contracts. but penrith also had heaps under contract but clean them all out amd still signed heaps of players.

I'm still not sure if we have a reasonable roster that's playing poorly, or a poor roster that's playing to their potential.
Either way, it has to change. It can't happen straight away - we are all aware of that, (I hope) - but some tough decisions need to be made now about who to keep and who to get rid of as their contracts expire. Perhaps some who are still under contract need to be 'encouraged' to seek greener pastures. And if that means dropping a few big names then so be it.
Not easy when there is limited talent in the lower grades. But then, that's why the coach is paid the big bucks!

During City Country Fitler have him more freedom and he looked better.

How would you know what he has been advised?

He should not be anywhere near the first grade side. Very, very ordinary player.

Well youd be in the very, very small minority with that opinion. Each to their own.
