I think there is a category missing.
Plodder is someone that can fill a spot in 1st grade, but do not expect anything special from them, e.g. Eisenhuth
Fringy are players that should be in reserve grade but can be called upon to fill a gap if required, e.g. MCK
Nufties are player that make you think why the hell are you signing them, they are no better than what we have, e.g. Pita Godinet

A nuffy is someone that tries, but doesnt have the skill set. A plodder ( to me) maybe had/ has the skill set but doesnt try or care about his or her efforts.
One thing you never want to be is a Fringy Nuffy.
