Religious extremists in general are intolerant groups, be it these Muslim protestors, the Westboro Baptist Church nutters or any other extremist group. It's a shame, for every one of these extremist violent Muslims there are many decent hard working Muslims who get a bad name as a result.
Yes there are and it is up to them to educate their bretheren to the way of life in this country. Islamic leaders have to be front and center on occasions like this categorically condemn the actions of idiots like those involved yesterday.
Our world views could not be any more different to those coming from Islamic nations and they need to be fully aware of this. Their world view is totally governed by the wordings of the Koran which they take as the literal transcripts of the word of God as revealed through an angel to the prophet Muhammad. Australia is more laid back. Those who follow scripture analyse and disseminate the information supplied without relying on its literal meaning. We take important values or messages and try to live good lives through those teachings. Others still have a perfect right to not believe anything written in these books and rely on common sense and decency to live their lives. Our world view has been created in various ways through our freedom of expression and freedom to make our own mind up what to believe.
Family, sport, work, culture, arts, mateship, war, education, travel, liesure, religion….are only a part of the identifiers of our world view. We are an open society free to make our own decisions on how we live our lives (assuming law abidance) and if you come here sprouting that Islam is the only way, you will quickly end up on your back with our boot on your throat. Exactly the same reaction we would recieve if the roles were reversed.
The onus should not be upon us to accept their ways. Assimilation is entirely up to them.
