Isn't it just plain common sense to go clean energy and we adjust production and society accordingly. If you look at the tens of thousands installing solar energy the voters seemed to have voted with their roof panels. Refugees, carbon tax and same sex marriage are non-issues relatively speaking but they have dominated the last few elections. (Energy prices are still rising greatly in spite of the tax being lifted)
I am old, I have done my bit and have given up on the world which is why I contribute to a footie forum to have some relief - for 5 decades I would not have been seen dead on such a forum ha ha

Because they are overwhemlingly self-interested and they lust for power. Their agenda is to be in power and it's easier for them to get ahead by dragging the other side down than actually being constructive. They do it within their own parties and they do it to the other parties. That's the major parties. Then there are the crackpot fringe representatives that are too stupid to actually contribute constructively to the governance of something as large as a state or country so they just throw out useless, contrarian views that are impossible to implement.
Anyone who wants to be in politics probably shouldn't be in politics…

This thread has been pretty quiet considering our government is now more than double the indebtedness than it was when the so called fiscal conservatives came to power a few years back, with more than $23k now racked up per capita.
They abolished a working system that allowed our energy suppliers the certainty that they are again crying out for and prior to the last sitting day, had done bugger all else apart from alienation of some desperate people and finalisation of some trade deals, yet other than a savaging in polls, have generally been spared by the media.
Now we have the voice of Mr three word slogan and Queen's husband knighthood giving ex PM ringing in our ears again. This mob have been a bigger joke than they made their predecessors out to be and continue to be so, even breaking our nation's laws in the process.

Both sides of politics are broken. Every election cycle is negative campaigning telling you how bad the other side is without offering anything of substance yourself, resulting in race-to-the-bottom politics.
I quite like Turnbull, he is he very definition of a liberal. He's a minority in his own own party though and as such hamstrung since his sold himself up the river to be PM and now finds himself at even more at loggerheads with the party room as they lurch further to the right as an entity.

agreed CB… Both sides are broken and the Senate are nothing short of hypocrisy.
We are in a sad state of affairs and I cant see much slowing the downward spiral anytime soon. Populous has taken over and that is one dark street considering the influence media has over the subject.
No one in the current structure is interested in their responsibility to the Australian people. Its all self-interest finger pointing. Anything For Votes!!!
