This when hundreds and hundreds of thousands of our fellow Australians, many of them children were tipped into poverty this past fortnight and a lot for the first time as the coronavirus supplement was again reduced.

Quite disgusting that our government is not forcing repayment of Jobkeeper monies that were claimed under false pretences by some of these corporations and especially so when they hounded people to death with their illegal Robodebt practices.

The Jobkeeper was a weird one ......if you lost 20% of your hours your were entitled .....I had one particular case of a person taking up studies at the same time it started and their hours decreased through lack of availability .....and they got Jobkeeper

Payroll had to track every person and their hours every week

I am not interested in prosecuting individual cases, nor those small businesses that misunderstood or miscalculated things, but the wholesale misuse/abuse of Jobkeeper monies needs some accountability found, both at corporate and ministerial levels.

As a country we have watched on as grants, water resources and other schemes have been increasingly and knowingly abused at both state and federal levels, simply becoming the norm. Even openly admitted in the case of Gladys, but we can no longer allow our politicians and corporates to operate in such manner with impunity. It has to stopped.

Lots of businesses suffered major downturns when Covid 1st started and then a month in it turned around ....

Yeah the food industry did OK out of it Hap. A lot of others didn't.

Not arguing that at all ...I was talking more about the retail industry as a whole

I had 3 employees earn more under job keeper than they did before job keeper.

Read an interesting article about the financial dramas that he apparently will have to deal with when he leaves office. Whenever things went to pot previously he had money either from his father or marketing himself as an entertainment personality.

The former is long dead and the latter will be as dead as his father now after his stint as POTUS, he will be poison and no one will touch him.

He's used to being bailed out. I wonder if he honestly believed that if he whined or leaned on someone enough they were just going to give him his way over upholding the democratic process?

Something weird with America's pardon system. IMHO there is no way, a De-elected president should be able to pardon anyone (be they dem or rep or whatevrr).
Your elected, you decide to pardon people, OK you face the electorate with those decisions.

The whole "I am running out of office so I am going to pardon X and Y and Z". Those guys who killed the 9 year old in Iraq. WTF, like how sicko can you get. The electorate, the Citizens should know about whos getting pardoned.

Just seems wrong to me.

Great to see those poor refugees that our federal government had locked in Melbourne hotels for more than a year finally released from them.

Like the noises coming out from the US of late with "this is not who we are" and the like, whilst ever we allow our leaders to treat people in such a manner, as a collective, that is exactly who we are.

Well overdue and would hope that the many more similarly locked up around the nation will also have a reasonable amount of freedom.
