hahaha, come on. At least find something comparable Yoss!

That is a total spend on information campaigns!

You are comparing years of necessary informational based advertising to an ad that is pure fluff and only promotional advertising for the labor party. All this when we are in tight economic conditions.

Don't believe me? Let's ask Tony Abbott…

middle stump yoss.
do howards figures include the 180 mill of taxpayers money spent advertising workchoices or the cost of the farcical us/pacific leaders forum that closed down sydney. anyway yoss dont you know that the libs are the only party that dont waste taxpayers money, but lets not mention the 10 billion hole in their promises last election

You mean when they basically had 2 kids with a calculator adding up their figures because they refused to allow a major firm to look at them?

Yoss, have to take my hat of too you mate, 10 months of even more pain, more ineptitude, more flawed agendas, more self serving decisions, much more stumbling and bumbling, less economic aptitude and even less of a feel for the electorate and your still in here punching brother !! It reminds me of the Knight in the Holy Grail…...'it's just a flesh wound'...I admire your persistence, I really do......

That may all be true but doesn't stop that costing exercise being one of the more embarassing moments in modern Australian elections. I make no secret of the my belief that Gillard couldn't sell an air conditioner to a Saudi but the government isn't as bad as you make out and Abbott is pathetic.

Mate, you should, if u haven't already, join the ALP. Pre -selection would be a doddle for you, seriously. You're made of much sterner stuff than the soft appendages they tend to wheel out every three years. On a slightly different note, interesting times with yet another of the Ferguson clan up to his neck in it. Have you been following the Multiplex/Dave Ballard case? The outcome could be catastrophic for the Labor movement

Thanks for the support (I think)!! I'm sure Ferguson is no angel but you don't get by in the building trade unless you're pretty rugged. I don't think Ballard is the most credible witness of all time. As I understand he's alleging Multiplex AND the CFMEU ganged up on his company. That's a big claim and I don't see him sustaining it based on the evidence I'm familiar with which is a few half-remembered conversations from people with axes to grind. That said I'm not a massive supporter of the CFMEU but this case is going nowhere fast.

Meltdown imminent, solar industry warns
On Friday 24 June 2011, 7:54 EST

The solar industry has warned it will cease to exist in New South Wales within eight weeks without action from the State Government.

Lobbying by the industry, along with disquiet on the Coalition's own backbench, contributed to the Government's backdown earlier this month on changes to the Solar Bonus Scheme.

The Government had announced it would retrospectively cut the tariff paid to households with solar from 60 cents per kilowatt hour to 40 cents.

That plan was abandoned but the industry is still crying foul after the Government closed the scheme to new applicants.

Energy Minister Chris Hartcher says alternative proposals for keeping the industry afloat will be considered at a second solar summit in a week.

He says one option would be for electricity retailers to pay for the solar energy they receive.

But John Grimes from the Australian Solar Energy Society says by then it may already be too late.

"We've seen companies that have gone from 19 employees to two.

They're holding on to see what's going to happen," Mr Grimes said.

"If we don't get a one-for-one feed-in tariff in place in NSW immediately those companies will close altogether and that would be a huge tragedy."

?? The tariff cut isn't happening, it's just closed to new entrants. Plus the industry will benefit if the carbon tax goes through.

Doesn't the federal government also offer households rebates? or has that finished now?

There is certain point where industry subsidisation just doesn't make sense.

I agree Hammer.

I reckon there should be a government mandate for all new homes to have solar fitted in order to increase volume and drive down costs and hopefully make it cheaper for established households to then install solar.

As I said earlier, I will be purchasing solar with the construction of my home, and I will happily pay a premium if it means we wean the country off our coal dependence. I also understand though that for a lot of people though that social responsibility is simply not a priority when you're struggling to pay your mortgage.

Gillards days are well and truly numbered.

Everytime i have heard her speak over the past month she has spoken nothing but contradictive, condscending rubbish.
Cowtowing to the greens is a new low for Labor. This party used to stand for something. Nowadays they only care about being in power. They are puppets on the end of a string.
Trying to convince the public that this stupid carbon tax policy was their idea all along is an absolute LIE.

Oaks embarrassed her again this morning. She has nothing.

Yeah, I agree mate. The thing that annoys me about her is just the fakeness. Rudd was exactly the same. They need to get rid of their whole spin team behind the scenes. Those 'spin doctor' douchebags are the real people destroying all the gains we made of the past 10 years.

The worst thing though is that Tony Abbott has nothing either mate. He is a shocking politician and doesn't offer good alternatives. For my mind, the only decent leader I can see on both sides of the fence is Turnbull and I don't think he will be in power in a hurry.

I would be happy for Gillard to stay in power if she took in one iota of economic thought and stopped major construction projects when unemployment is low (and the mining sector is screaming for employees) and stopped trying to promote another Labor wealth distribution scheme/handout as Carbon reduction policy.

We need an ETS, but she has gone about it the completely wrong way.

Gillard is equivalent to a dead man walking. Will not be PM in a few weeks. Nothing but a fake and lair and has no credibility. If Gillard said it was raining outside I’d have to open the window and check. That is how much Gillard is now distrusted by the electorate.

Absolutely outrageous behaviour stating category that there will not be a carbon tax before the election and then trying to implement one after. Has nothing to do with climate change and is just a straight out tax to be used as a socialist method of wealth redistribution and people are starting to wake up to it.

Howard stated "category" (think you mean categorically) he would not bring in a GST… yet here we are with one despite a minority of the populations support in it. I wonder whether you felt just as outraged... You want to talk about Johnny boys lies?

The media is crucifying The Labor party and IDIOT Australia is too dumb to realise.

I don't like Gillard, but the Carbon Tax is good. The media is consistently putting the fear of the 'left' in people claiming the Greens are running the show and the Carbon Tax belongs to the lefties... It's complete, utter BS. The fear Abbott and the Media are spreading is completely unfounded and irresponsible.

And for the record, me and my partner are SEVERELY worse off due to the Carbon Tax because of our incomes.

The difference is John Howard changed his mind BEFORE an election and went to the electorate on that basis. People knew they were voting for a GST or not. In this instance I would put those traitorous Democrats in the same category as Gillard as they were the ones that change their stance after the GST election and got the bill through parliament. From that day on the Democrats where doomed just like Gillard is now.

You are right I did mean categorically, I blame the auto correcting spell checker!

the most dis-appointing about any politician, is that when they want your vote, they will promise you just about anything.
when they get into power they screw you over.

Dumb comment Kaiser…Howard won an election with the public knowing full well what his intentions were. Absolutely NOT the same thing and you know it. This is the sort of rubbish that IDIOT Australia as you say, who support the current government, always say.

I didnt like how much Howard spent advertising the GST but that is not the issue here. Gillard, Labor and their supporters are liars and the nation is spewing about it.

It's ok if people change their minds, like Johhny did. They just need to make sure that they don't worm around democracy, like gillard has.

This is why people are angry..

**Things Labor has done right :** Put in a Resources Tax

**Things Labor has done wrong or overspent on :** BER, Cash Handouts x 2, ETS, NBN (FTTP too costly), Means testing on Environment measures, Ceiling Batts, Changing government mid term, Pokies 'Reform', changed a working policy in the pacific solution, $11bil Telstra payout, made it harder for international students to go to uni here (one of our main exports), live cattle trade knee jerk reaction, Spent $10bil to buy independents votes, gave unions back power - more strike actions, Set top boxes, Policies Increased Inflation, therefore Interest Rates, Increased the public service by 20%…. it really does go on.

It's not 'IDIOT' Australia mate. People are just starting to add it all up.
