Sorry CB how was the last election unloseable

I look at it this way ,that they did extremely well to get as close as they did The Polls showed they weren't going to win

The big read for the next Federal election could be Qld state election which should get announced latter this week and should be for next month (if my source is correct)

Referring to the bolded text Happy, the polls showed they wouldn't win because Abbott led them to the election. Smeg(?) had mentioned exit polls showed that had Turnbull led the coalition into the election, they would have walked into government.

My point was I believe it was unloseable because there was such poor public opinion of the government at the time, and they still managed to hold government (if only even slightly,) where in any other circumstance they'd have been tossed out on their arses and the coalition would have retained a majority.

CB I agree totally And don't be surprised if 6 months out you see a leadership change with Turnbull back at the helm with a heap of new policy ideas

Abbott has been very effective at doing what Abbott does best and has helped the Coalition gain a foothold

State results aren't great indicators of Federal results Happy. If anything losing in the states will ultimately help Gillard. What's your take on Campbell Newman? Good to see that the Libs have taken over running the show from the white shoe brigade at least.

Don't see it happening. Say they do that. What does Turnbull do about the carbon tax? He's clearly on record as supporting it but his party opposes it. I think they've invested too much in Tony now.

Not a big fan of Campbell Newman and found it particularly strange he didn't show up to his launch on Sunday

The person I believe should of led the coalition in those years in the widerness was Mike Horan Straight shooter and well thought of up in Qld I would of voted for him despite the fact he played for the Roosters in the 60's

Wouldn't of hurt that he had a extremely famous son either

There was an excuse but I can't remember what it was Yoss But seeing he is a caolition member the excuse was acceptable as far as I am concerned

He was probably helping with the Lockyer statue

I am usually not seen as being bi-partisan but todays ridiculous efforts by the protesters at the Aboriginal tent embassy has really poissed me off. Gillard and Abbott were physically threatened with violence by a section of the community that hates Australia.

I'm so angry about it I'm considering getting the boys together, organising some taxis and heading over there to smash some heads in. I wont do that as I am somewhat house trained….unlike the absolute scum who live in this junkie shanty town

It certainly did their cause no favours. It looked ugly and reinforced why many people have a negative attitude to the tent embassy. Anyway nobody got hurt in the end, no charges are being laid, and apart from the PM being down a shoe, things will move on.

Thing is mate there is no bloody cause! If these lazy bastards got off their collective backsides and had a go they would be far better off. They are given squillions of dollars per year and spend it all on crap. This ridiculous eyesore has been around for 40 years now. It is populated by the very definition of scum. The most unhygenic, unproductive and useless wastes of space in this country. They are pure garbage!

Our leaders should not be abused like that - no matter how they have performed. What our problem is , is that we keep trying to help those who wont raise a finger to help them selves….they sit on their arse smoking bongs, shooting ice and drinking their heads off untill every Australia day when they help each other out of the gutter to abuse our country with their outdated racist bullcrap.

I am sick to death of it.

I'm far from a Labor or Liberal supporter, but I have to say I empathise. Gillard earned herself brownie points today by ensuring both her and Abbott got out unscathed.

I dread every Australia Day to be honest because it's usually corroded away by the usual racism and invasion day articles. I had to laugh at Charlie Teo's article the other day that Australia was predominantly racist because some drunken Yobbo twit decided to deride his daughter. Top way to tar everyone with the same brush. There is plenty of reverse racism in this country. I laugh especially when proud "wogs" denounce me as a "skip" without any prior knowledge that my own bloodline has Spanish origins. Surprise lads, I'm part "wog" too…

The aboriginals have a valid point, their execution is poor however. Frightening two people to within an inch of their lives is an awful way to prove your point.

You have to be careful not to generalise these things. It was one group of Aboriginals augmented by the usual far left uni trendies who measure success by how much damage they cause. Several larger Aboriginal groups have strongly condemned what happened and bemoaned how counter-productive it was.

Yes I remember hearing about a similar response to such problems, "Let's take back our beach!" :unamused:

'They'? You are using a incredibly small group of people to generalise an entire population. Aboriginal elders have already come out and condemned these actions. Beyond that the media's response has been amazingly sensationalised. In the video all I saw were cameraman hounding the PM and Abbott on their way to the car.

They also had cause… they wanted Abbott to answer to the comments he made surrounding the tent embassy. Given he is looking more and more like the future PM, this is fair enough in my opinion and he should be accountable and explain those comments. Every news station ran stories on Albanese ripping a quote from a moving, yet Abbott's comments will no doubt go unnoticed / explained.

Personally I still believe that the Aborigines are the most oppressed community in society. Yes there are those that do little to help their cause; I have been on the receiving end of such abuse from those a feel anger towards. But we are talking about a community that are still treated as second class citizens. Most hard-working aboriginals (yes they are not all Lazy scum as you so arrogantly put it) stuggle to find work because of prejudice, this has been proven time and time again. Additionally much of their problems have been the result of past political policy / intervention; whether it be stealing their children or placing those less fortunate in 'aboriginal only' housing estates which inevitable turn to slums, like most public housing estates.

I hear it every day and especially after events like this when all the righteous "I'm not a racist, but....", 'straight calling it' aholes appear to bump their gums.

That is what I am sick to death about it!

Regardless of the eyesore that might be the Tent Embassy, I think plays an important part in our history and stands for much more than what you have described.

hahaah you really have comprehension issues dont you Kaiser? You dont like me and the feeling is more than mutual.

I am talking about the activists at that camp site. I take it you have been there? I have and it is a squaller. The lazy scum as I said are those people there…I am not generalising at all. I have also worked on some of the housing commissions up north and they were not ghettos when I was there. They were brand new houses with a permanent staff of maintanence trades working solely for those communities...which I might add were thriving.

The fact is every Australian day when the majority of the population is celebrating (including aboriginals) our nation, these clowns at the embassy cause havoc. You just havent heard about it but I am telling you it happens every year. It should be cleaned up and a proper building established as an embassy but this shanty town is disgraceful. Abbot hass huge trouble expressing himself but that is no reason for them to attack like that. They scream racist at the drop of the hat but it pretty darned clear to me that they are the true racists.

BTW I dont think aboriginals are treated like second class citizens at all. They are equals just like all of us. On top they recieve many benefits that you and I dont and a large section make the most of it. Most construction clauses these days includes a section that demands you hire a certain percentage of Koori workers. I cant speak for other sections of the job market, but there is certainly no prejudice there. Aboriginal health is the only issue that I see that needs more improvement as their life expectancies are still a lot lower than ours. They have just as much access to housing and education as we have in fact they have more.

I hate seeing Australians being classed as racists because these activists say so. We believe in a fair go and we hate dole bludgers....so sue us. Those at the tent embassy cry and bemaon their life yet do nothing to change it. Whereas I live next door to a great family of aboriginal descent, who work hard, play hard and own nice things. You would have though after 40 years these activists would have worked that out.

Hardly the issue at all mate, if I didn't like ppl due to opposing views and ideology I wouldn't like many ppl at all. This is one topic that seriously annoys me. Mate if you let political opinion create your view of and / or thoughts towards a person, I feel sorry for you. I seriously hold no animosity towards you what-so-ever, despite the obvious different views / stance we take on stuff. So to hear you don't _like_ me due to it somewhat surprises me although I couldn't care less.

I also wonder why I have comprehension issues, your calling people scum and you **are** generalising. You said "These people are given squillions every year", the fact you are implying such a large number (unless the slang has severely changed since I last heard it) means to me you are implying the aboriginal population.

Also I know not all public housing estates turn to ghetto's, especially the newer ones. There are many which I don't think I need to name that are deplorable. I apologise for this comment as I definitely wasn't clear.

I also think we are an amazingly racist country; the irrational and unfounded fear towards 'boat' people is pathetic and a perfect example.

Surprise surprise….'sorry' wasnt enough after all.
This crap will continue on & on & on
People just need to have a go...plenty have proved its possible...Im sick too of lefty bludgers making excuses for people, its always someone elses fault....no responsibility.
Weve gone soft
