The length of the rollout was the biggest issue .......

Again the problem of having a huge country with only 25+ million population

Causes us so many problems in so many area it isn't funny

Committing so many billions to a technology that is almost certainly going to be obsolete at some stage is the issue.

you can connect to Starlink now for a one off cost of $400.

I think one of the biggest political stories that no one is brave enough to talk about at the moment, is the Brittany Higgins case.

A horrible accusation that was immediately accepted as true by the media and both sides of politics.

Two years after the alleged incident occurred, Higgins and her boyfriend organise a TV interview during the sitting of parliament. The then shadow attorney general, now the attorney general said, in reference to the allegations, "stop raping women" and "enough is enough". The then Australian of the Year named Higgins as a "survivor".

Scott Morrison, despite no proof of the incident happening and with no regard to the presumption of innocence, apologised to Higgins for the "terrible things that took place here".

The case comes around, the accused doesnt make a case for misinterpretation of consent, he flat out says it never happened and he was never in the room with her.

The case is dropped because of jury issues and the DPP, who was previously warned by the AFP that there was "insufficient evidence to prosecute", subsequently drops the case because the DPP is worried about the ongoing mental health of Higgins and doesnt want to put her through the trail process again, despite the fact that when the accused said he was going to prosecute for defamation, Higgins said she was willing to appear as a witness ‘to defend the truth’ in any defamation case.

To further obliterate any perception of innocent until proven guilty, nine days after the case was dropped by the DPP, the Albanese government, without any legal resolution a d with zero mediation, settle claims against the Commonwealth for $3M.

The accuser, who by her own evidence was blackout drunk and couldnt put her own shoes on, walks away reputation intact and $3M richer. The accused who was significantly more sober, his evidence was eh was never in that room with her and there was no evidence he was can not clear his name in any action, receives no money, his career is finished with no recourse.

No one seems to have an issue with both sides of Govt so significantly stepping into the legal system and obliterating the presumption of innocence? That is where we are?

Now, without getting into the case itself, is this right......$3m from the Commonwealth?

Sounds like taxpayers money and nothing was proved.

Now, if she was wronged why don't the perpetrators pay instead of you, I and other citizens? Whoever wronged her should sell their house whatever to pay her, otherwise it stands to reason public servants can break whatever law was broken and the taxpayer pays.......didn't hear anyone sacked or charged.

What is this BS?

3 million dollars is an amount 99% of people will never accumulate.

Great post Tiger5150.
People are posing the question but their voices are being drowned out. This whole situation stinks to high heaven.
She was lauded a hero for her National Press Club address where she constantly referred to her case as if it was public knowledge that it 100% occurred as she attacked the sitting PM.
Peter Fitzsimmons negotiated a book deal for her under the guise of a rape survivor, despite no accusations being even heard, yet proven.
Samantha Maiden broke the story through an article and won the Golden Walkley for her story.
Lisa Wilkinson also broke it through a tv interview and won the Logie for her efforts.
ALL CONJECTURE. ALL UNPROVEN.
Men were being told on prime time tv to stop raping women by frothing feminists who were taking advantage of their platforms.
It was like an orchestrated attack on all heterosexual males had been given the green light and main stream media happily obliged.
Now she has received a payout…disgusting.

Dont get me wrong. Something horrific happened that night. Either she was sexually assaulted or he was unfairly accused of something horrific that has cost him everything.

My point is that both sides of parliament have completely disregarded any legal precedence, any presumption of innocence. The media was worse and actively ruined the legal process (Lisa Wilkinson delayed the trial).

The result is that outside of the legal process, the accuser has been apologised to, paid $3M and verified as a survivor of sexual assault, meanwhile the accused has his life ruined with no legal recourse because of both side of parliament.

I dont think people understand what this means.

This is how people end up doing 25 year stretches only to be exonerated when it’s all too late.

The weaponisation of politics ramped up to 11 out of 10 in recent years by the anti-Trumpers broke peoples brains. The way the main stream media manufactured an entire dog and pony show over Kavanaugh, were the exact same people that protected Weinstein for decades #metoo (unless its someone on our team)
