If Bligh gets punted (as she deserves), things might start to heat up for Federal Labor. NSW booted them, Qld are likely to…I know State & Federal are different- but I'm pretty sure most political votes are cast regardless of the level of Government- you are either Labor or Liberal at both State & Federal.

Empirical evidence would indicate otherwise. Often people vote for different parties federally and at state level. If anything losing in Qld may help things. Newman is every chance of screwing things up as leader (assuming he even wins his seat).

"Burning the Australian flag isn't racist."

Agreed.

But you go burn the Aboriginal flag & see what you get called.

But the Aboriginal flag represents one race. Therefore it a lot more accurate to describe that as a racist act. The Australian flag represents a country and people of many races.

The burning of anyones flag is a scumbag act. I agree it isnt racist….it is far worse.

Those useless pieces of crap who burnt the Australian flag - a flag by the way that some of their ancestors and/or relations died serving under in battle - should be outed and shamed.

Our leaders wont do anything because they are too scared to be labelled as racist by these clowns.

Most Aboriginal assistance is aimed at trying to get their living standards to a level somewhere approaching that of non-indigenous Australians.

By non-indigenous we are referring to all the rest…i.e including the immigrants, the refugees and those others who came here with nothing but have managed to make a go of it.

People whinge about what they get but really, how many Aboriginals do you see driving around in Bentleys and living the rich life?

Go north, go west, go to the stations out in the guts…they arent in Bentleys but they are driving brand new Landcruisers. How many non-indigenous do you see driving Bentleys? My problem with this argument is that you are blaming the affluent for existing knowing bugger all about the struggles and sacrifices that they may have endured to become successful. What is their crime? Getting off their arse and having a go?

People whinge about placements at uni or Abstudy but I can barely remember seeing any Aboriginal students at my uni.

Once again, the placements and the support is there for them to further educate and improve their situation. If we can do it by living skint for a few years and working dead end jobs to keep afloat then why wont they when their sacrifice isnt as great?

Many indigenous have become successful in all areas of society because they accepted the help and had a go. It is not out of their reach - just as it is not out of reach of the Ozzy bogans and riff raff who live on welfare. The problem is it is very hard to help anyone who wont help themselves. This is a society that rewards hard work and people who take chances. There is many on this forum alone who can atest to that.

I've been to a lot of the more isolated settlements in my old job. The living conditions are terrible - what's your solution? Just let them die or let the kids grow up with no education or prospects? For the actual dollar amount it costs there is far too much made of indigenous welfare. It's not like every Aboriginal in the bush owns a landcruiser. Very few do.

What do you want him to do? Are you suggesting he should be able to control what interest rates banks set? Costello didn't…

Mate I have seen a few of these myself, infact you dont even have to leave the state to see some of them. I have no solution…I just want to know where the funds go? Why is it not getting to those living in these desperate situations? A jaded person may suggest a large portion is possibly going to law firms and such to fight land ownership cases. Whats the point of winning said cases though if the recipients are dead by 40 due to lack of everything associated with the welfare system? Who are the greedy beuaracracies that are intercepting the payments? Why arent they using these tax payer funded warchests to help their own? I dont blame the poor people who are not recieving funds...I blame the lazy buggers and the leadership groups who are not helping with the distribution. The funds are there, you I and everyone else is paying for it. But it seems those who dont need it are the recipients and those who desperately need it are missing out.

 Apparently yes!

Watched the 4 corners interview last night. Nothing really that new there but still can not understand why Julia continues to lie about her involvement with Rudds backstabbing. She is compulsive….

Puzzeling as to why she agreed to appear in the interview yet didnt answer any questions. She is obviously scared witless of the same happening to her. Rudd was no good as leader, she is worse....whats the chances there are backroom manouverings for a third as yet unannounced leader ship tilt?

Same way EVERYONE in that position tells lies. Same way Howard denied there was an agreement to hand over to Costello when everyone knows there was.

While theres no doubt that pollies never answer a question, Gillard is extreme in her un-truthfulness. Even when presented with facts, she looks people dead in the eye and lies.

Howard may well have had a deal with Costello that he reniged upon but who cares? That didnt affect anyone bar the party. Even though he was smashed, he allowed the electorate the opportunity decide his fate. That was an egotistical play on his behalf that backfired on him and his party. Gillards lies affect the whole population…totally different.

Anywho, whats the chances she is around to fight the 2013 election?

:roll

Oh yeah "Honest" John never told a lie!!! Children Overboard anyone?? It only didn't affect anyone because Costello didn't have the kahunas to act on it and because Howard wouldn't let it go.

How exactly does Gillard's "lies" about the lead-up to the leadership spill affect the whole country? It's just ridiculous to suggest it did. People had a general election very shortly afterwards to offer their assessment.

Just heard on the radio Peter Garrett has quit politics and is returning to music, apparently he has been working on his new single to come out on election day 2013, It's titled "HOW DO WE SLEEP WHEN OUR BATS ARE BURNING " .
