If you wait to long CB you will miss out on being a a young dad which I love. Life is less about things (Though I have more than most) and about what you can do for Others IMO

Its hard work and at times very frustrating but its Soo worth it.

I love Population growth, I'm thinking its time for No 5 in my house.

PS - Does anyone else feel so embarrassed about Gillard on TV representing us. She is disgusting.

It's not too far off mate, just making sure we're covered before we make the plunge. Five sprogs! May need to upgrade from a Tarago to a Coaster Spartan

And yes, Gillard is a disgrace. More pressing issues in this country and she's off to a wedding… :unamused:

And yet a lot of the people who support the baby bonus are the same types who want to cut immigration. And more strangely, the very yobbo crowd who are anti-immigrant are the very people who benefit from having kids they're in no real position to afford.

I'm anti free loader immigration despite being the child of Immigrants who came to Aus in the 70s.

Its to easy to get money for nothing in this country.

I pay my way, send my kids to private school and give more than 10% of my income to charity.

Depends what your definition of "free loader" is. The vast majority of immigrants to this country work like Japanese Beavers (to quote Homer Simpson).

The baby bonus is a hard one. I could see the idea behind it when it was first introduced but there are far too many bludging POS who are rorting it along with numerous other welfare systems.

I agree with the idea that the bonus should exist as a sort of cash back system for baby expenditure. At the end of the day though, if you cant afford one then take a leaf out of past generations experiences and work harder, save your dough and prepare…

I agree that most immigrants are hard working and see coming to Australia as an opportunity to prosper. They have waited their turn and join the workforce almost immediately. The other scumbags who jump the que then sit on their arse with their hand out should be deported.

It's paid over 13 fortnightly installments now which I think is much better than 1 lump sum. Hopefully the bludgers aren't locking in Harvey Norman deal that equates to their expected payments.

It's a good idea because we do need to boost our population for the boomers. You'll have people who probably don't deserve it, but that happens with any handout. Overall I think it would be doing good for our future financial burdens.

The thing that irked me about this was Rudd attaching a means test. Which is already on everything, even environmental measures. This is one policy that shouldn't be handed out to criminals and dole bludgers but not to the people who pay the most tax and on the whole, probably have good family environments.

Immigration should also be upped, but everyone has already said the same thing that these cheats who come here illegally from war torn countries, have food, water and shelter given to them, then want to continue to be violent can be sent straight back home. No wasting time and more money in courts etc.

how much is the baby bonus? i would have thought looking after a child would cost way way more than what they would get from the baby bonus

Not if the grandparents are doing it like some of the problem people that are being discussed are probably doing

Being fair, I went up to each person handing out How-To-Vote cards today and asked them all "Why should I vote for your party?"

*****LABOR - Verity Firth******

me: "why should I vote for Labor?"

Labor lady: "because the O'Farrell is shit"

me: "ok, but what policies does Labor have that should entice me to vote for them for this electorate?"

Labor lady: "Labor will continue to supply great public transport for the area"

me: "But it takes one and a half hours to get from Balmain to the CBD, that's an average speed of 4km/h."

Labor lady: "Have a look around the world and the rest of Australia, our public transport is amazing here in Sydney thanks to Labor"

me: "um, Melbourne has an extensive tram network, London and Tokyo have huge Metro webs and Athens, a corrupt city built on one of the most archeologically important cities in ALL TIME, in a heavily in-debt country is able to build three huge subway networks in less than 8 years with one more being built… explain that?"

Labor lady: "Labor is the natural government of NSW"

... at which point I walked away

It was from the White House that US president Barack Obama watched his highly skilled operatives enter Osama bin Laden's Pakistan compound and shoot dead the terrorist leader.

Flagged by key staff in vice president Joe Biden and US secretary of state Hillary Clinton, Mr Obama watched through a video camera attached to the helmet of a Navy Seal as bin Laden was shot in the left eye.

Mr Obama watched images beamed live to him via satellite as bin Laden used one of his wives as a human shield in a desperate bid to save his life.

The woman died. along with three others, including one of bin Laden's sons.

After pulling off the killer shot, the operative then carried out what is called a "double tap" in the military - a second shot, most likely to the chest, to make sure bin Laden was dead.

A few hours later, the body of the terrorist figurehead was buried at sea.

The killing of the al-Qaeda leader marked the end of a decade-long search for the man who had eluded the US for so long.

Osama bin Laden's final act was one of cowardice, and US officials admitted it was Navy Seals who had killed the terrorist's wife.

"There was family at that compound, and there was a female who was, in fact, in the line of fire that reportedly was used as a shield to shield bin Laden from the incoming fire," counter-terrorism official John Brennan said.

Pressed on reports the woman shot dead by Navy Seals during a firefight at a compound in Abbottabad in Pakistan was one of bin Laden's four wives, Brennan told a White House briefing: "That's my understanding."

Barack Obama's top anti-terror adviser John Brennan said that it was "inconceivable" that bin Laden did not have a support network in Pakistan.

"I am not going to speculate about what type of support he might have had on an official basis inside of Pakistan," said Brennan, when quizzed by reporters on oft reported links between Pakistani intelligence and radical Islamists.

"But we are closely talking to the Pakistanis right now.

"We are looking right now at how he was able to hold out there for so long and whether or not there was any type of support system within Pakistan that allowed him to stay there."

US officials are puzzled by the comfortable surroundings of the Abbottabad compound where bin Laden lived, and the fact that his presence in a fortified building did not attract suspicion of Pakistani authorities.

Mr Obama said he had directed US special forces to attack the heavily-fortified compound after a tip-off that first emerged last August.

"A small team of Americans carried out the operation with extraordinary courage and capability," the president said. "After a firefight, they killed Osama bin Laden and took custody of his body."

Bin Laden's body was buried at sea having been administered Islamic religious rites, US officials said. "We wanted to avoid a situation where it would become a shrine," one said.

The body, which was wrapped in a white sheet and placed in a weighted bag, "was placed on a prepared flat-board… (and) eased into the sea," a separate senior defence official said.

Elite troops from the US Navy Seals carried out the assault, which lasted less than 40 minutes, killing bin Laden with a bullet to the head, another US official told AFP.

There will be a ton of speculation about what went down.

We won't know what truly happened until 40 years from now when the soldier that shot him writes a book about it.
