Forget about the polls. That is purely a popularity contest and Rudd will always win that. He is a good public speaker and Abbot is not. At the moment Labor is set to lose seats and that will decide the outcome as we vote for our local reps and the swing against Labor due to their ineffectiveness over the past 6 years will mean that even though Kevvy is popular, sensible people will vote the Libs in as they want Labor gone. Changing the leaders before the elections is desperate and is pandering to the population who do not give a toss. On the surface Rudd is more likeable. But the party battle will come down to what has happened in Labors past 2 terms and yes…they will be punished for their incapacity to run most of the big dollar projects that they bring in. They are ideas men, sure, but they couldnt run a root in a brothel and that has become glaringly obvious.

I don't know how any sensible, sane individual could or would ever vote for Tony Abbott. The man has genuine psychotic tendencies.

Is this really the PM we're suppose to believe is a better alternative? a man who stares blankly at a reporter nodding his head like a nutjob for 30 seconds when he can't answer a question? I'm not defending Labor and Kath had to go, no doubt about it, but i find it amusing when people try and say that we'd be much better off with this certified nutcase running the country.

I am not voting for Tony Abbott to be the PM, I am voting for his party to be in power. He is a mouthpiece and compared to the past 2…he'll be no worse. What I am predicting is that his team will be better. None of us vote for the PM mate....this isnt America.....people really need to understand this.

And the libs have no big dollar projects of their own or any concept of nation building.

I also look forward to Abotts grave becoming a permanent urinal for all decent people.

If this country elects the abortion of a human being that is Tony Abbott then we deserve everything that happens to us.

Right at this point in time I can see how you think you could claim that with some confidence, but in reality, you have no idea what your talking about as they havent released any policies yet. Therefore your whole statement is nothing but BS.
Your second sentence is ridiculous dribble and not really worth a mention….. Just out of curiosity though, why is TA an abortion of a human being? Seems way over the top for a bloke who hasnt done anything that bad.

Like I said

No plans, No Policies, No Ideas.

Thank for proving my point

Haven't followed politics too keenly in recent years.

No you may not have been to claim this…..

NBN seems to be going alright

well like i said, it's 3 months behind. that's alright, no? It'll end up being finished maybe a year late in a 10 year project and considering this is a $40 billion project that pays for itself (far less use of tax payer's money) delivering what Google (they have $100billion in the bank) was only able to give to one city in america, that's alright.

NBN isn't using tax payers money, unless you've bought government bonds

Abbott has assembled Howards leftovers , and tried to turn them into an alternative government , no fresh blood , no new ideas , no vision , just a few short slogans

People aren't buying it

There is reason why Australia and Bennelong dumped Howard like a sack of rotten crap ,
Because we don't want work choices , we don't want unnecessary Austerity

Abbott and the Libs are offering nothing .

Yeah, the government is loaning out about 20 bil. The media often portrays it as 'tax payers money'

Question to all , how do you vote ?

Do you vote for your member you wish to get in or do you vote for the party

I'm about to face this quandary again , know the Labour candidate and he will get things done for our local electorate but worry what another term of Labour mismanagement might do

Neither,

I vote based on policies presented.. makes me a flip floppper

I don't understand how some people are 'Labor/Liberal' till I die mentality..

Election date , when will Ruddy call it and what date will it be

He is in a Catch 22 situation at the moment ,leaves it too long and he will lose the honeymoon votes , too early and his asylum seekers policy can't be effective

Add to that what are 5 key policies to winning this election ??

"No one, however smart, however well-educated, however experienced, is the suppository of all wisdom," said Mr Abbott, of Prime Minister Kevin Rudd yesterday.

:roll

Our future PM - what an embarrassment!

Hang on, Abbott smarter than you think. He really did mean to say "suppository" in reference to Rudd, because as we all know, Rudd is the biggest arsehole in Oz.

Lol, peace all

Good point, Dazza, although I don't think Tony is that smart

What policies to the liberals ACTUALLY have? I mean, they oppose gay marriage and the NBN. Both horrible stances for the coalition. Besides that, they just focus on incosequential things like carbon tax which was like 1% inflation, a one off thing, and compensated for anyway.

They've drifted away from the overtly negative politics but it's still evident in their approach to Labour.

Has to be your good local member.

Whilst I understand people's concerns about some of the rushed response to the GFC, other than the lack of fortitude to push through the original mining tax (and the resultant change of leadership), I think they and the independents have done a great deal I difficult circumstances.

Particularly in the current environment, fans of this club should know better than most that the truth gets in the way of a story. The propaganda machine led by News Limited is doing its best to discredit anybody or entity that does not suit their agenda or business plan. It should also be noted that the media ownership rule changes that allowed the crazy situation were passed by the Howard government, after Murdoch championed them.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but to my recollection, the only reason that the coalition had funds in the future fund etc was from the sale of Telstra and selling off a large chunk of our gold reserves.

Any idea what a Rhodes Scholar is mate?

Don't assume because someone is an awkward public speaker that they lack intelligence.

Because both parties operate on sets of core principals that you either agree with or dont? ….... i dont understand how anyone could change parties over small policy issues.
