If not carried out and no matter how long this virus affects us, he must be the target of the opposition, minor parties and independents, as soon as parliament (that should start next week) resumes. I'm hunting for Dan Tehan at the moment.
Down here in Victoria the premier has encouraged parents to keep their children home from school. (Schools are open but principally for the children of health workers and other essential services). He has been consistent in that maessage in line with advice from the Victorian chief medical officer.

After last week offering to bring payments to private schools forward if they got their classrooms 50% full, Tehan has now advised parents to ignore the premier and send their children to school.

Whether you agree with the premier or not, it is the state governments responsibility to address this issue. I believe this is the first time in Australia, during this pandemic, that an elected official has encouraged citizens to ignore the recommendations of the those in authority in relation to social distancing.

I think that's unacceptable and is the first sign of the cohesion in government response falling apart.

Scott Morrison should tear him apart for that. A stint on the back bench would do him no harm.

Having now seen the interview, I understand why there is a kerfuffle following such an attack, though I expect that it was a premeditated position of which Tehan lost control of, even when not pressured by an easy interview. The most remarkable aspect of his response to the Tehan comments is that he just didn't. That's very astute. If he had responded he might have been dragged in to a divisive tit for tat and then the fault for any division between governments would have lain at both doors. His Health Minister made a very measured response and he said absolutely nothing. Just left Tehan to stew in his own juices.
I agree that his leadership has been shown to be strong through both the Covid 19 and the bushfire emergencies.
